Assistant Coaching changes in the off season ?

As most of us know , Head Coaches are more like CEOs now. Collins appears to be a "loyalty" type guy. By that I mean, he will give an Assistant a lot of rope until he just has to be let go. Does anyone think Collins will make changes in the staff after this year ? And if so, who ?

Best chance for a win ?

We have 7 games left. At this point what is our BEST chance for another win ? Dook ? UM ? VT ? Your thoughts ?

A new adult beverage idea !

Some of us old timers like to have a summertime drink called a "Tom Collins": Gin, club soda, simple syrup, ice, lemon juice, served in a tall glass. I am renaming it the "Geoff Collins" - same recipe but served in a tall Waffle House cup !! Refreshing !! Just like our new HC and staff ...

    The "Collins effect "........

Our new coach seems , at this point, to be able to create a lot more interest in the program by radio interviews, assistant hiring questions, offensive and defensive changes, etc. He is the proverbial NEW KID IN TOWN ( cue The Eagles song of the same name). I even saw 2 articles about Dwag...

Report card for Woody's D so far

I am pleased with how the defense has progressed. It IS a work in progress, but the improvement in a couple of areas is evident. I was hoping for a change in mindset and I can see that. Guys are looking to making a play , and not sitting back waiting for a mistake. Turnovers are happening , and...

What the BGSU bloggers are saying

http://www.ay-ziggy-zoomba.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=35323&sid=0b6f2f84d674611a7df5d8487fcc79d4 Always interesting to me to see what they think. Many on South Florida's blog thought they would win......and they did. However , many at BGSU are not really happy with their present coach -...

    Anyone remember Vad Lee ?

At times like these with our QB issues, I have thought back to VL and his time on the Flats. IMO, he could have been a difference maker. The attempts by CPJ to put in some trick plays ( Pistol ) to use his talents were half-hearted at best. The man could pass, but he was not a true option QB...

    Northwestern South ??

Thinking about our current frustration with our athletic programs, and looking back on the times since I attended (1968-1973) and really started paying closer attention to our athletic performance, several thoughts come to mind : 1) We have had some GREAT ADs - Rice quickly comes to mind. 2) We...

i had this dream( nightmare) last night

Maybe I have been watching this blog too much. It crept into my dreams last night. We were attending the Clemson game this weekend , proud to watch our son play. It was a spectacular day for tailgating and we were excited , but not overly optimistic , about the game we were about to watch. After...

Let's compare coaches, just for fun !

I have always admired Coach Kirk Ferentz at Iowa . He took the HC job back in 1998, inheriting a very poor program ( not like CPJ ). His first 3 seasons were terrible. Then things started to turn around. Since those first 3 seasons , he has had only 1 losing season . He has taken Iowa to bowls...

Looking ahead to next week ...YES PLEASE !

Let's all watch PSU at Pitt tonight to get a preview. PSU should win , but this game can be crazy .....like us and the DWAGS, at times. After watching them , let's make REALISTIC picks for our upcoming game with the Panthers. We used to say CPJ never, ( or rarely) loses two games in row. Can...

Two early season indicators of success ?

I am really getting psyched about the upcoming season. Lots of reasons to be optimistic , IMO. Of course , most every team is feeling the same way at this time of the year. For me, two things I will be watching very closely coming out of fall practice and into the first few games are : 1) What...

Ideas to raise our visibility ?

When I attended Tech back in the early 70s, we seemed to be at least holding our own in the state with our visibility and profile. However, since the Dwags won their NC in 1980 our paths have diverged. We had a " cup of coffee" in the limelight in 1991, but our inconsistent success since has...

Clemson not only wins, they whine

https://www.tigernet.com/story/football/Monday-Insider-Tigers-in-the-mix-for-Playoff-Georgia-Tech-gets-dirty-on-Lawrence-16345?ref=email Tiger Net post this morning about our O line playing dirty early in the game. It appears to be two chop blocks against Dexter Lawrence. Basically accusing our...
