Georgia Tech has zero need of athletics. The school doesn't need any "advertising" from football or any sport. Georgia Tech is in the conversation with elite schools such as MIT, Cal Tech, etc not because of sports and if sports went away tomorrow the school would remain prestigious.
The whole...
Paul said this himself. He said it wasn't the only thing you could run, but he was a firm believer in having a system and sticking to that system.
I firmly believe that tech could win with a lot of different systems, but I believe that Tech won't win with a vanilla system with coaches who are...
Not sure what you're talking about. Jacketup brought up CPJ, not me. My point was that the offense is only 1 phase of the game and the other phases have been equally poor. Seems to me I'm not the one with my "panties in a bunch".
Jacketup,
Don't care one bit about the UGA game, we had no shot at winning that game - didn't watch a single snap.
If the offense was the only thing in the program that was a mess, you might have a point, but it's not and you don't.
Finally, my posts hurt the program no more than yours did...
NIU. Defense caved the last drive and gave up the score. They hold we win. Furthermore you act as if you have proof of anything. All you are doing is spouting opinion and calling it fact.
You anti-CPJ crowd keep saying stuff like this. How about this: the offense was good enough this year to win more than 3. Collins doesn't get a pass for the rest of the team.
I will repeat this again: that doesn't mean you win 3 games in the meantime and lose to lower level teams. You seem to excuse away the defense and that as a head coach there is more than 1 phase of the game.
Maybe the first couple years. This past year the offense should have been good enough to win more than three.
The thing I disagree with you on is that you have been proven right that it takes 4 years to transition. What you have been proven correct on is that it has taken a minimum of Collins...
The flaw in your logic is that Collins attained the ceiling for wins the last three years as opposed to the floor. Just because it has taken Collins 4 years to potentially get the program on the winning path does not equal that no one else could have.
My personal belief is that he doesn't get...
It is my strong opinion now and has been since the beginning that Thacker has been impeded by Collins. This is why I don't see how Collins gets a new DC. Who would step into that situation except for someone who's up and coming (aka Thacker) and has no real shot at the P5 level. So, if Collins...
It's not a foregone conclusion that we will win enough next year to keep him. I guess it depends on the required wins threshold. It may be as low as 5, but I think if Collins doesn't get GT bowling next year he's gone.
Thacker choosing to stay would likely have very little to do with liking GT. I mean is it really a choice? Take a demotion or beat the streets. His chances of getting a job paying similar to his current or reduced salary is miniscule.
I actually don't think changing defensive coordinator will fix anything. Collins pretty much ran the defense this year. Never convince me he wasn't very hands on when the wheels came off the defense.
Offense could get much better with a new OC, but I am skeptical of getting a good OC to work...
How much time?
From the AJC:
All along, whenever Paul Johnson addressed the topic of retirement, he said he would stop coaching at Georgia Tech when he stopped enjoying it. That was evidently the point that Johnson reached this past season, his 11th at Tech and his 40th in coaching.
“I told...
We didn't try to run anything with Tobias. Just like PJ could only run his offense, Patenaude can only run his. You can't just toss a coach out there and run whatever scheme you want. Having said that, the vanilla offense that we run isn't the problem. I don't think it will ever be great, but it...
