This kind of ignorance is really painful. I'm sorry... but CPJ had Dwyer, Thomas and Nesbitt on O behind what turned out to be a very solid OL including Gardner that got drafted... on D he had Richard, Walker, and Johnson plus Derrick Morgan on the DL... we started 2 walk ons this week...
I think fan perception is big in terms of fallout, but I think the biggest place it would have real impact is recruiting. If we go beat Clemson on the road in Collins' 1st game, I think we'll see even more big name kids showing real interest in coming to Atlanta.
I do believe we have about...
I am curious what everyone thinks would happen in terms of fallout for each of the 3 scenarios playing out:
#1) We look like we're just not ready to play with a team like Clemson and they more than cover the spread, we get blown out by 40+ and don't look good doing it.
#2) We play them pretty...
If the current R-Jr's were to leave, you'd see Owens at DT next year and Chimedza... those 2 would be the starters next year. I do expect we will see some good names at DT before this class is finished.
Douse and Lockhart are both playing DT in the freshman class.
We'll be fine.
I have no insider information, but I'd wager that kids will absolutely get nudged to transfer, graduate and move on, etc in order to free up roster spots. That's part of big-boy college football... whether you like it or not, that's what happens if you want to win.
I just don't think so... 4 and 5 star kids want to play in a system that will get them ready for the NFL, they all believe they are headed there... the option doesn't do that. I just don't think elite talent would go to Bama if CPJ were there just because it's Bama. Same with anywhere else.
As of now we have 1 freshman on the roster (Price)... 4 sophomores, 5 juniors, 2 seniors. We have a veteran squad, as Pastner's been saying he wants. Time to make good on that.
We all want Pastner to succeed, we want GT to succeed... but he's got to win big games to win big recruits, and he's got to have talent to win games.
I do think the roster we'll have next year (especially if Parham is eligible) is good enough to make the tourney... good enough to upset some...
I count 6 or 7 guys on the roster that we could absorb/lose without missing anything on the field... I won't say who I think those kids are out of respect for the players... but it wouldn't be the worst thing if we saw some attrition from those scholarships.
Haven't heard about any more guys expected to leave... are we expecting more attrition in the coming days/weeks? I hope that whoever chooses to leave will do so now so that the staff can pursue senior transfers for those spots for this fall. Leaving in July doesn't help the team in any way...
I have to say I'm surprised we haven't had more luck reeling in OL... we only have 8 returning scholarship OL in 2020... you'd think kids would see a path to start immediately.
I’m concerned we look extremely thin on the OL depth wise. I think we have 13 on scholarship right now. I hope we add a transfer here. We have 5 seniors, so I’m not sure adding a senior OL would be helpful especially for 2020. I’d like to see an incoming RS freshman or Sophomore, even if it...
