So, if you're on medical, do you get the tutors, food plan, rehab access, and everything else afforded to S-A's?

It seems like other players, like Radliffe and Gray were still heavily involved with the team (maybe like student assistants), but have not heard about others being involved with the team.

You get everything any athlete with a ship gets. As you referenced, you may be required to help out with other aspects of the program that exclude actually playing.

Including the stipend for cost of education? Is there an obligation to be still part of the organization in some capacity?

BTW, I think this is an awesome ability the programs have to help students that can't continue to go physically. It's a win-win for everyone, even if some schools abuse it.

Perhaps we should refocus this thread to "CGC is putting us on self-imposed sanctions by not maintaining 85 on scholarship?"

Note: Intended to needle both sides

How do you go into a recruits living room and sell him a 40 year decision and a whole bunch of stuff about family and then not have a complete family?

Purely one man's view..... Most just try to get on with their lives & accept football as being in their past. A few who might think they want to get into coaching will become Student Assistants (like YeOldeDeepSnap did - I wasn't injured, just exhausted eligibility), or another option is to, for lack of a better term, do intern or "Work Scholarship" at the AA. This may include checking names at the Letterwinners Lounge for FB games, visitor escort, etc., IOW whatever needs to be done in exchange for their education.

Tutors are still available.... we had the option on the food plan of eating in the dining hall or getting a subsistence allowance - the food plan worked better due to the afternoon practice hours back then..... Physical rehab on a not-to-interfere basis.... etc., except they aren't practicing or playing.

That may have changed, but I doubt it, especially given that the AD is a GT FB Letterwinner & a former GTAA Academic Advisor who knew plenty in his playing days and given his commitment to the Total Person Program.

Hahahaha. 30 plus pages of gar-baashe
What if cgc in his first year has fewer attritions than ccg and cpj average(9&10)?
In their transition years they had 15 to 17.

The 2015 class had 27 3 stars. There are 13 to 14 left. I had such high hopes for that class They gave me many fond memories and those will make me miss the ones who have departed. I am sad to see so few have made it as a sr class.
Maybe it was hype or bad thinking on my part, but i really hope to have a senior laden team in 19.

Now, THAT is funny. Well played.[emoji106]
Now that we are undersigned, the "talk" is ok.

I once had a son in law that would run a 100 miles to get out of telling the truth.

The crew that never had to hire , fire, and run a large competitive organization has run this thread 100 miles past their lack of knowlege while they left poorly framed disinformation about cgc.

Visceral dislike of coach key and collins and his mantra. At least this round has ended.

There are some folks on this board who are afraid that Collins will do better than Johnson. I used to say there were people on this board who were J0hnson fans but I wasn't sure they were Tech fans. It's those same people.

I'd be willing to bet $1 the people you just described will come back in to the thread to claim they've had to do the above.

You seem to want to put things in two distinct boxes. What's "right", and what's "wrong". The reality is, there's more grey out there than black or white.

It's pretty simple, and let's make it easy. Say GT is wholly innocent of everything some suggest is happening. No "processing" players. No pay to play. No pushing players through the school for their abilities even though they have no business at GT. Let's, for the sake of not getting further into any arguments, make GT the true North of all that's right and pure. Great right?

Well, GT is a member if the NCAA, correct? That's an inarguable fact. GT is also a member of the ACC, correct? That's an inarguable fact. Does GT receive money from the NCAA and ACC? Yes, another inarguable fact.

Well, now we have a problem...actually, your "right" and "wrong" black/white soapbox rant has a problem. On one hand, you are blasting all that's wrong and unholy about certain practices that's going on with how schools behave, all the while GT is benefitting (in the form of tens of millions of $$$ every year) from being a member of institutions (NCAA, ACC) whose members have been documented and are known to practice the very things YOU are damning. GT can not hold itself up as the model of all that's right with college sports with one hand, but accept "dirty" money with the other. It's a sanctimonious slippery slope, isn't it? Further, if you want to say that "I never said GT is the model of all that's right", well then you just answered your own question. You don't need to figure out whether you should "pay the price"...it's time you start paying and leave the world of GT sports behind. If GT isn't the model of all that's right, then GT must be doing something wrong. The degree of which GT is "wrong" doesn't matter if framed by your argument. GT is either right or wrong. As long as GT continues to accept money made by institutions whose member schools are known to practice the very things you are damning, GT is no longer the clean virgin some want to believe, regardless if GT is participating in those things or not. Can you spot the hypocrisy? It's the priest vilifying the whorehouse next door during the week, but accepting the whorehouse's money on Sunday.

So whether you understand my "contradiction" or not, it doesn't matter, and I don't care if you do. How you want to frame it personally is your problem to deal with. However, with regards to GT, whether GT is creating dirty money or receiving dirty money it's the same end. If you are holding yourself to the same standards you're trying to hold everyone else to...then I wish you well leaving us all to dirty ourselves in the world of college and GT sports. We all know the price you are paying. However, if you do not wish to hold yourself to the same standards you are holding everyone else to, then at that point you may want to look up the word "hypocrisy".
This is a really bad argument. Seriously. I want to bring out the Billy Madison line on this thing ... "At no point in this rambling, incoherent, ... I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul."

I never said there weren't gray areas in the world. It seems you want to make everything gray, or at least anything that justifies an internal desire. That is human nature, isn't it - which is why there is an obvious need for a transcendent standard outside of human nature. So, let's say there are 3 bins in the world, black, white, and gray. Where do lying and cheating go? What you're doing is called deflecting. Your whole response was to deflect from your own conscience. And, you could deflect again by coming up with an example of lying and cheating for a greater good, like "What if you lied and cheated to keep someone out of a Nazi concentration camp?" And, I'd go, "Well, yeah, but please stop deflecting from the situation at hand." Lying and cheating for selfish gain to the detriment of others goes in the black bin, not the gray one.

The illustration you gave is sooooo far off the mark. You can't fool everyone with that, though you can fool a few that just want to agree with you so bad, their logic is blurred. The illustration could be adjusted thusly: If the whorehouse folk come put money in the plate at the church, what should the church do with the money? Answer: they should spend the heck out of it to serve their mission and never think about looking back. What we have here is not that, it's more akin to the priest participating in the whorehouse debauchery. And it seems from this threat that a few in the church are saying, "Whoa, that's not gonna fly in our church", while the new majority are saying, "Well, I've been with a few whores in my time, who are we to judge, let's just let it all go, look at these cool new 3-stripe hymnals!"

As I said before, I'm willing to pay the price ... I'm trying to figure out if there actually is anything wrong first, if you don't mind. I'm not against CGC - it could very well be that he's done nothing wrong. I guess you want me gone. Maybe you'll get your wish, maybe not.

How can you separate the two? So a sexual assault cover up is only a stain on Mich St and Baylor sports program and not the institute?

I have yet to see anyone say they will stop supporting GT bc Pres Bud Peterson and friends improprieties, but will do so because scholarship not being renewed to those who are caught in transition or no longer a fit due scheme change or being position-less
You are responsible for what you know about. I am unaware of what you speak regarding GT and Peterson. I'd welcome your enlightenment on whatever you're talking about. Feel free to PM me, so as not to muddy the thread more, you could just send a link if that's easier.
