In that example, the new guy is getting a promotion purely because of culture and being a "yes man" and not performance. If the top salesman is actually out performing the new kid, he should the job.

CGC has specifically said that King out preformed Wells in practice to earn the right to kick. That's why I tried to keep all things outside of performance equal in my example. As far as we know(from what CGC has said publicly), Wells and King show up to practice on time and both work hard but King has just kicked better in practice. Like everyone else, I think Wells earned the starting job, but I also don't expect CGC to make an exception to his rules because it will undermine everything he is trying to build.

Yeah let’s field a whole team of workout warriors who practice hard but fail on game day. Championships are sure to follow....

Nope......the performance in this scenario is game day......the work at the office is "practice" time. Trying to adhere to hard and fast "rules" will undermine the ultimate goal.....winning games.

Exactly, i’m talking about both. I'm talking about endless bitching about things by people (probably many of the same ones as then) who don’t know what the hell they are talking about.

Gameday performance. We have all seen it with both kickers. CGC himself said it was a practice performance decision purely. No mention of injuries or anything else. So why are some trying to pretend there must be more to this story?

CGC blew this call. Thankfully he didn’t blow much else and Tech got the W anyway. What’s concerning is his doubling down on the silly ATL and practice performance garbage. Especially for our specialists.

Ya'll calm down. CGC has clarified his remarks. Ken getting off on the wrong foot with another head coach?

It makes his gameday decision look even worse!! If he factored in prior game performances......SMH.

Oh hell I give up. He blew this one. Excuse make all you want he blew it.

I guess we are going to keep talking about this until WW starts kicking in games again. In the meantime, can’t we show BK a little love for fighting his way back from a groin injury and not being a quitter when he lost the job?

Ya. As soon as he starts kicking the ball through the uprights.

Guess Jamious Griffin should never play again. He only got above the line by practicing but failed on game day when he fumbled.

If his in game performance continues along that line his pt had better be reduced.

It’s not like each kicker has only kicked one time in a game. There is a body of work to go on. Some of y’all seem to have forgotten how bad things were last year. Saturday was no improvement.

Its the principle. Changing the culture. I agree with CGC here, and getting his kids to buy into this. IDC if you're the second coming of Jesus, not putting in the work is NOT TO BE REWARDED. This translates to everything else these kids will do in life. I agree we all want to win, but CGC is setting the expectations of his SA's. No one should get preferential treatment. If this was indeed the case to why WW isn't kicking, i bet next week he's balls to the wall in practice. This is how the talented become superstars, and this is how the below the line players become above the line players. It's all about competition and pushing each other to get better. We all want to see this translate on the field, and it will, but some of you have no patience. Let's face it, this won't be the last time this happens, and I'M ALL FOR IT.

We are talking about a kicker here right?

Lets hope Harvin doesn't have a mediocre week in practice before a big game or he might lose his starting job!

This is correct! Practice hard, continue to perfect your craft, and you will play on Saturday's. Simple as that, its the SA's choice.

One is a freshman all american and two time all acc player. The other has a small sample size on mostly moderate range FGs.
