I sorry if you think the scheme is the only problem , recruiting better players helps but they have to want to come to Tech. How many players from Clemson VT NC State or Miami could pass at Tech or really be willing to put that work in to passing?

And yet ... we’ve beaten those teams. Shoulda beat Miami last year.

More than many people want to believe.

Jacksonville head coach John Grass and James Madison head coach Mike Houston need to be on your list;)
Eh, I'm holding off on them the same reason I'm holding off on Brian Bohannon: Who was the last FCS coach to be hired at a Power 5 school? Has anyone ever made that jump before? Don't get me wrong, all three have done great jobs at their level, but we should not take that kind of chance unless they're willing to get paid in peanuts.

My take, both targeting calls were bogus imo.

special teams was ok.......... except on 2 plays, and those two plays really hurt us. Well, the bad punt as well.

On defense, guys need to brake down. I understand flying to the ball and if you miss the tackle others should be there, but at the same time, brake down and make a tackle. I’m about to get backlash for his probably, but CNW called a decent game, that’s right play calling on D wasn’t that bad. The issue was guys over pursuing/not braking down, and not keeping their assignments. Now, it’s a new defense so I’ll give the guys time to get better, but I still have to look at if the D staff had the guys prepared well. We had a ton of missed assignments imo and that can’t continue to happen. That imo was the biggest issue, we weren’t getting man handled or anything like that.

On offense, we will be perfectly fine. We had over 600 yards of offense and 38 points. I understand we had a fumble, but can we really blame a unit for putting up 38 points and over 600 yards? And it doesn’t matter who the QB was, they both played well and did their job. Oh, I almost forgot, TM showed he can pass the ball better than some thought. This game was better than any game I can remember from last year in that aspect.

Oy...where to start...

Offense has 600+ yards, Taquan passes for 180+ yards and completes 50%, Clinton Lynch looks like Clinton Lynch, TOP is 35+ for GT (11 minutes more than USF). We score 38 points.

Going into the game, if you would have told me those would be our stats, I would have said we win comfortably. Instead, special teams and 3 turnovers happen and the game looks like the Duke game where the defense can't hold a bag of water much less USF's offense in the second half.

VERY disappointed in the read recoginition of our OLBs. Flying into the read option from the edge and giving up the outside to make a play between the tackles. OLBs have to trust the ILBs and DLs to make the play if the QB gives it between the tackles. It happens once, that's OK...there's something to be said for being aggressive. But once the QB shows he's willing to keep the ball, you have to have discipline to man the edge and cut him off if he keeps. Nope...time after time Barnett ate our defense's lunch taking it to the outside.

Trying to be positive here when I say this is the second game for the new defense. The hope is every snap, every game is a step forward to a better defense. Despite what happened, there is still a LOT I like about this defense. Need to clean up the little things that hurt us.

Special teams....:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

That's all I got. Very disappointed, but I won't let the 2nd game of the season ruin the rest of the season for me.
