He was in the first class of Homer Rice's "Total Person Program" and has talked about it almost nonstop and how he's tried to recreate it at UCF and OSU

I remember when they hired Bill Curry. We had some good candidates but the buzz was always around the concept of the "Tech Man". Glad to see we have a true believer back in the saddle.

OK, just a small thing, but Andy's reference to the "Old Gold and White" reminded me that I've heard "gold and white" rather than "white and gold" a lot lately. Am I nuts? (in this observation)

You're not nuts. I see it too. It's "Up with the White and Gold" ....

Things "to know" - link

Curious as to what - if any - buy out there was. "...the A.D. position at Oregon State, where he signed a five-year contract...."
I'd be curious if we have any employment lawyers on the board who can comment on this. Generally speaking you can't force an employee to pay you a sum of money if he leaves your employment to work elsewhere. There are some instances of that, depending on the type of loss you claim his departure caused, the type of industry you're in, and the type of company he moves to. (So obviously there are buy-outs for coaches, for example.) I doubt Athletics Directors would fall in the category of positions where such buy-outs are enforceable.

Top candidate TAKEN! Someone who isn't looking for the next best thing and understands how to build a non-factory program. Plus he played on the flats so I imagine his passion for football will show. Couldn't be happier with this hire.
