Isn't the talent level a function of coaching?

Also there are too many teams that recruit 3 Star talent that still have high quality defenses. Duke, Mich St., TCU off the top.

Roof is gone. Joined NC State's Coaching Staff as 10th Coach. Honestly, I'm happy about this, now i just hope we find a viable replacement who can take us where we need to go. Hope this doesn't affect recruiting too much.

I am genuinely sorry to see this because of TD and the fact that Coach Roof was such a great player in his day. I trust that this was a parting of the ways so to speak and he did what was best for both him and the Institute. Godspeed Coach Roof and best wishes.

Statistically, we made strong improvements in several categories. Third down conversion % specifically. We were making strides until the Duke game.

As for the Swillings, Roof is the reason they are here. Legacy doesn't mean much these days. BJS was getting the full court press from LSU and the SEC, but chose GT because of Roof. TK Chimedza said Roof was why he committed to GT this year. Roof is a great recruiter, and a decent DC. We'll just hope the new guy transitions smoothly now.
As for that statement I have no idea, I did read Tre say he wanted to play the same place as his Dad.

Fwiw, I'm pretty sure that Nate Stimson would never work with CPJ.
AE, I’m very confident Nate would work with CPJ... if for no other reason because it would help Georgia Tech..
Nate is all about winning

See, this is the issue that keeps coming up. I was a Roof supporter, but I never said he was the absolute best and that no one could do better. I just think that changing coaches very rarely solves problems. Most times, there are systemic problems when multiple coaches keep failing. I'd rather we focused on the systemic problems rather than the coach is all.

Auburn is on their third DC since Roof left them. I hope we do better than Auburn on our next pick.

This tells me that Johnson is under some pressure. Who is going to take the job knowing that the head coach only has 3 years left on his contract and is under pressure? Are we going to guarantee a DC's contract?

Not sure how this is going to work.

Johnson under pressure? I take this as exactly the opposite. It validates that Stanbury will do what CPJ wants. CPJ probably could care less if he were under pressure. He probably will retire in 3 years. He could be hiring our next head coach with this DC job..

FWIW, this year App State and GT had 2 mutual opponents, Wake Forest and UGa. GT allowed 24 and 38, respectively. App State gave up 20 and 31 respectively.

I understand this is VERY facile, but with App State talent, Woody was one score a game better than Roof this year.
Hope he gets the gig and Andy Mac is retained. Open season on all the other def asst jobs.
