What gets CPJ fired or encouraged to resign?

Exactly,
The scheme is only as.good as the players we have. Weve see this in the past, but some could argue that the scheme limits recruits as much as the school.
If CPJ had the Bama, UGa, Clemson, LSu, talent at GT we'd be in the NC playoff picture too.

Yeah if he ran kirby’s Offense ! Paul would be more successful there than at GT , but uga or any other powerhouse program wouldn’t touch the 3option with a 10’ pole

Auburn offered him their job according to CPJ’s agent and best buds who would have no reasons to lie...

You think we could get Heupel? I don't. With their academics, he can recruit almost as good of a players to UCF, play an easier schedule, and bide his time until a bigger offer comes along.
We have a current member here on GTSwarm who son was asked by Heupel to work for him at UCF. This GTSwarm member said his son thinks he would take the Job. I’ve also now heard twice that he’s not the happiest at UCF. I’ll also add I think his system would help in recruiting, especially with the QB spot.

Unless you have something new to add...we get it. You don't like CPJ. You're ready for something new/different. You don't have to keep saying it over and over.

Nobody adds anything new. We have the same people blaming the BoR/ADs/Academics/Blah blah blah.

We just got blown out by UGA, a topic is started about firing coaches and you don't expect it to turn into one about Johnson? Really?

But rivals don’t agree with your assessment

Really? The recruiting site? Because it clearly does. 07 was a good class and 08 was shaping up to be a solid one. This is just indisputable. And O’Leary was clearly better. You can’t run away from facts.

I would not hold my breath on that one. I figured he would have innovated more early on in order to attract true dual threat QB's, talented receivers, etc. My biggest surprise is that he was unable to attract big time running backs (like Dwyer). That being said it's been the lack of defense throughout the CPJ era that has prevented them from reaching the next level.

This offense hurts the D.

I find myself torn, as I believe the way the $$ control CFB and the factories now, the days of believing we can compete are really behind us. I believe CPJ's system is a positive and a negative.

POSITIVE - opposing teams struggle to defend it, and they hate to play against it - we have seen ourselves how we can compete with somewhat higher levels of talent, especially if the teams do not have great coaches.
NEGATIVE - not only does this offense hurt our recruiting on the O side, it is OBVIOUSLY hurting the recruiting on the D side, and without a decent level of talent on D, winning can never be assumed - the talent gap we saw today is MORE than any system can overcome, as long as the opponent is well coached.

I do NOT believe there is another coach out there or a system out there that can make GT compete against the factories. I do believe that another coach might could recruit slightly better, especially on the D side of the ball. But, without the positive of this difficult system to defend, I believe we would still be relegated to 7-5, 6-6, maybe an 8-4 season every once in a while. Some might say, "why not get another head coach, and just bring in an O coordinator that will run basically the same O?" Well, if we run the same O, then I think recruiting would not change.

I will understand either way, but I still barely fall on the side of keeping CPJ for now - what I do know is we would have to accept 2-3 years of disaster if he left right now, with the players left. I have always thought if he would compromise his system some and make it a little more of a "hybrid" style, it might help his recruiting, but who knows?

I think it's also fair to note that CPJ (or whoever is the coach) has to face Clemson and UGA each year which will deflate the win total in comparison to the other ACC schools. UVA/Duke munch on those cupcakes to pad the wins.

I did not even think about our football spend being 61 out of 65 in the P5. Talk about a deal killer for a new head coach.

New Coach interview question:

"So let me understand this. You are truly the bottom of the barrel from a spending perspective, Most kids I will not be able to recruit because of the academic issues. What kids I do get in will have to work hard in school and limit how much time I can spend with them. If they can even stay eligible. I will not be able to bring in transfers because none of them will meet the AP requirements. I wont be able to bring in any good assistant coaches due to a lack of money, the fan atmosphere is weak on game-day, The fans donate to the school and not to athletics. You fired a winning coach with the expectations that I will be able to compete with the Clemson's and Georgia's of the world? NOT INTERESTED!!!"

So why didn't Woody ask these questions, or do these things only apply to head coaches for some reason?

How's that possible? They run that sexy new fangled shotgun option and pass stuff that so many want GT to run no matter what.

There is your white flag. Who’s next?
