If Saban hires you, then you have some ability.
Some truth there.
1. Several Die hard Ala fans say we got a great guy and coach in GC. Left but not a bridge burner.
2. Saban gave Pruitt his start as recruiter, db coach. Now head coach.
3. Saban took in Kevin Steele, who I thought was worst coach ever (baylor before brilles) after Dabo dumped him. Now he is doing good job at Auburn as DC ( the offense at auburn needs a qb).

Sa(b)an is a helluva football ceo.

I leave all this oc to u guys.
Who the heck is the ol coach!?

Temple's offense stunk. They were 97th in drives that finished in a score or at least one first down and 98th in drives of four or more plays. If we run the same offense, expect to see a lot of three and outs, because that all it is good at.

Oh really. Scoring offense and look who’s right below.

That includes ST and Defensive scores. It is also does not show how many drives it took to score those or the quality fo defenses they played.

32% of their drives end without a score or first down (97th), 38% of their drives are less than four plays (98th), and over 14% of their drives end in a TO (104th).

For Tech, 19% of our drives end without a score or first down (8th), 24% of our drives are less than four plays (4th), and over 10% of our drives end in a TO (57th).

Temple scored 45 TDs on 118 drives.

Tech scored 52 TDs on 111 drives.

Yeah OK.
The averaged 25 points per game
Top 50 in total offense
Top 25 in scoring offense
The offense didn’t suck.
If Collins wants to get a different that’s fine, but the offense was fine.

Total offense and scoring offense? Both are based on tempo and number of possessions. Yards per play and points per possession are more meaningful.

Godsey is one of our most successful players and QB's in our program's history. He's an alum and loves Tech Football and the program

He's already worked with the following coaches in offensive roles:

-George O'Leary as a GA, QB Coach, and RB's coach for 7 years on that UCF staff that was so successful

-Bill Belichik and Bill O'Brien (former GT OC and NE OC at the time) of the Patriots from 2011-2012 as the TE Coach. Coached Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski in that time period.

-Bill O'Brien was then named the Texans Head Coach and hired Godsey as his QB's Coach

-Joined the Lions staff in 2017 and was their QB Coach this past year for Stafford in a pretty revamped, spread offense that could still run the ball efficiently

He's only 39, and a Tech Football Alum that can really bring a much needed energy in terms of coaching and recruiting with a unique style that meshes with a young Geoff Collins and his recruiting stunts to be able to sell Tech to high schoolers in the area. He's had a little college offensive experience, albeit not a ton, but enough to where he has enough experience doing the actual job of and young enough to connect with these kids to where he can be successful.

Gotta believe that having a young OC that went here and actually graduated from The Institute and understands the recruiting pitch for a school with our limitations would only be amplified by the apparent recruiting prowess and connections that Geoff Collins has in the south. Would be a very nice change-of-pace from the recruiting style that CPJ abided by in terms of social media, national recruiting, and prospect outreach, a style that will also be almost be propped up by an increased support staff, funding, facilities, and resources that T-Stan has committed to getting since he took the AD Job.

Gotta think having a career-long history of being a QB Coach at the highest level would at least help ease the transition of arguably the hardest position there will be to transition from the TO to a more spread or varied offense.

What do y'all think about this / who is your choice for OC under Collins?

Temple was 41st in points per drive and yards per play. Now that isn't burning the house down, but it's a far cry from bad especially since they were 34th in defensive points per drive. Somehow that 7 spot difference is the difference between a good and bad defense/offense?

I'm watching the Cincinnati /Temple game from this year, and watched a couple of highlight packages.

In my limited exposure, if we try to run Temple's offense, without top 25 level recruits, we will be lucky to win two conference games a year.

I was hoping for Goose as OC, no matter who came in as HC. He knows option (Goose is loose) and other stuff too. Fridge was his OC and the Fridge could throw a lot at a defense. Just saying.

Goose would be an interesting hire. Could we get the Fridge as a consultant?

They had an above average offensive ppd against below average defenses which is why they get knocked in FEI which accounts for strength of schedule. Their non adjusted (ie before strength of schedule) was 46th and after SOS 57th.

Regardless, I hope Collins and the OC he brings in continues to excel as well as GT currently is while also making our defense not be bottom 100.

I want an OC that will run the ball 2 out of 3 plays on the average. I think we need to maintain our reputation as a tough hard nosed running team, especially in the red zone. No more diving at people's legs to block. We need to be competent at passing the ball but our calling card needs to be old school hard nosed running the ball.

Go Jackets!
