Josh Pastner?

I think it's more than fair to state that, if he hadn't had this turd around, none of this would be happening.

That is my beef and I don't think I'm a lousy fan because of it.

Ron is a conman ... probably can be very charming and is obviously manipulative. Josh is the kind of guy who wants to help people and Ron saw that and took advantage of it. People misjudge others all the time, so for me this is just a lesson learned for Josh.

Tell me what exactly did Pastner do wrong?

You say if he hadn't had this turd around this wouldn't be happening, but part of the reason this is happening, a big part, is because Pastner tried to keep Bell from the program. People who are hammering Pastner for this are doing so because he tried to help someone and it came back to bite them. I don't see how you can believe that is a fair shake.

First, does this situation exist without Pastner giving this dude access in the first place? No. So miss me with all this polyanna-ish 'but what should Pastner have done' nonsense.

I didn't say fire the guy. I said we as fans and we as an Institute have a right to look at Pastner and say, "Dude, wtf?!"

Ron is clearly a con and conman. As @Tech93 said, this has put a dark cloud over everything about the program. On court and off. The situation exists because of conscious decisions Pastner made. It's a shame that it appears he was taken but the net result is the GT program is suffering, more than the run of the mill rebuild, because of choices he made.

The situation also doesn't exit if we don't hire Pastner. Or if we don't fire gregory. Or any number of things.

Again, the only reason people would look to Pastner and say "Dude, wtf" is because of the outcome. Nobody was saying anything about Bell before this happened because nothing Pastner did was really wrong other than something that it wasn't reasonable to expect to see coming, and a part of why this is happening is because Pastner did try to keep Bell at arms length from the program.

I would argue the biggest thing thats happened since Pastner was hired was signing Michael Devoe. Pastner offered him well before he was rated a top 50 player HE is the one who made him a priority. I know the assistants matter but you don't sign up to play for them.

Unfortunately when you’e in charge you’re responsible & accountable for everything. The good, the bad & the indifferent.

I’m sorry we’re paying previous coaches not to coach, but the accountability doesn’t go away just because you were dealt a bad hand. Peterson & Stansbury need to figure it out- stand by their man or send him packing.

Pastner owns this baby too. He got conned & gave this guy too much access. Now he’s being smeared in the media & it’s damaging the program & the Institute to some extent. He owns his coaching choices, how he recruits players, etc and he owns this tar baby.

I don’t have all the information nor the responsibility to make the decision, but that’s what our Institute’s leaders get paid to do. I hope they make the right choice. Peterson’s track record with GT athletics is poor in my opinion. The results are what they are. I have not formed an opinion on Stansbury yet but how he handles this, the football program & our baseball program is going to carve out his legacy big time.

Love to agree with you but there is 0 money to do anything with Pastner who got an extension last year. Pastner deserves at least 3-4 more years.

I’ve heard that line before. What would 3k extra butts in seats per game be worth?

Secondly, didn’t we give Gregory a raise & increased his buy out right before we fired him? We also bungled Hewitt’s situation.

Obviously running this business needs to be a priority & if the folks in charge don’t have what it takes they need to be shown the door & replaced with people that can.

We did that already.
