Given that there are other problems (and the magnitude of them) I don't think there is a QB alive and playing on Saturdays who could overcome them. I think if those other issues were addressed, most especially the OL, we have plenty of QB talent to win against the competition we face week in and week out,

Where is this data coming from? Are you only talking about interceptions?

Interception numbers came from here:

Had to dig into stats for each game to get fumbles. And I did only count fumbles lost as a fumble not lost doesn't count as a TO. But this is what I had:

At the end of the VT game, they were rushing 3 and getting almost immediate pressure on the Sims. Early in the game on many of his drop backs, by the time Sims got to is plant foot he was dealing with pressure from the edge w/ no time to make reads or get set for a throw. I'm not sure either QB is going to be successful in that scenario. And its not new to this game!

Despite our schedule being VERY soft our offense has been average to bad in every game but UVA and UNC (we benefited from Defense generating 3 TO's as well in that one. Sims had less than 250 yds of total O). Can't say "we scored 31 on Duke was good, that is average to bad against their defense. We scored the fewest points against them in their last 5 games.

It all starts at the offensive line. I don't think either QB is setup for success by a combination of OL and playcalling.

That said - If Sims can build and get more consistent (he tends to go hot and cold, both Duke and UVA he had long lulls where he misses passes) he clearly has more upside. It would be interesting to see how it worked to put Yates in for a series or two when Sims hits a rough patch.
I know one thing, we need to be running Sims a LOT more, he is a devastating runner and I have no idea why we aren’t taking advantage of that. Possibly the coaches are trying to keep him from getting hurt, but we have Yates so imo don’t sweat it. He seems to mis-read his run options and hand-off instead of keeping a fair amount, so hell call planned runs for him, fake pass plays with delayed QB runs, roll-out and run, etc.

I'm hopeful we'll see some more of that this week. Miami gave up nearly 100 yds each to UNC's QB and RB. I'm hoping with some OL coming back this is a week where we get the run game moving at a decent clip.

Thanks for compiling those stats. 16 TOs in the first 8 games, then 10 in the last 8. Getting better.

LOL.....we will never know becuase he didnt play. Makes no sense to even bring this up as an argument, holds no weight.

It holds a lot of weight when you see plays where Yates missed open WR due to not either being able to see over the line or being able to extend plays with his legs. Yates do make that throw vs. Duke nor does he pose a threat in the run that gives our RB/OL a chance to be productive

Duke, VT are two pretty easy ones.

Dunno what makes you think that. Not even a given we beat UNC if Sims didn't go back in. Duke and VT put up 27 and 26. We don't beat them with field goals. Taking care of the ball is important, but scoring touchdowns wins games.

I just don't get dogging Sims with our defense the way it is.

Yates do not make these throws

Duke is an awful football team with an awful defense. If you guys think Yates couldn't score against them then that is probably more insulting than anything anyone has said about Sims.
I don't get how people can say, "Yates can't do this and can't do that". He's proven that he has the capacity to make good throws and good decisions. I don't get why some have to tear down one QB in order to build up another. They both have ability and they both have the capacity to win football games.

but did you see Yates throw the ball to the other team? I dont think so
