I don't know why you're angry at me for telling you how economics works man.

The fact of the matter is I have been in UGA's bookstore. Many times actually and there is a decent bit of clothing that's not red in there. They have a lot of grey shirts just like every other school's bookstore. They also have a GAMEDAY marketed section that's all Red with a culture of wear red to games. The only 2 pieces of UGA clothing I own is a dark grey t-shirt and a red alumni polo (because it was the only thing with the word alumni on it in the store but that's a different issue)

I'm all for changing the culture of gameday to being one of solid gold but that doesn't mean every day throughout the week I need to wear gold GT stuff. I love my grey shirt with a giant GT all over it. I love my navy Orange bowl champs shirt. The bookstore needs variety and I think it's up to the AA and Adidas to market the wear gold on gameday push.

I've outlined my idea of it many times both in chat and on the forums. They need to pick a gold color and print off cheap GT gameday shirts to send to all the season ticket holders for football and basketball. Then put those same shirts in the bookstore for $10 which is cheaper than all the other shirts. Make sure that shirt is the focus of the marketing with a tag of Get your gameday shirt. They do something similar for the students already they need to do it for the wide audience as well.

Also this is what my friend wore to the UGA vs UNC kickoff game last year (she did undergrad at uga and grad at UNC)

Didn't even bother to read all that. GOLD is our color and GOLD is what we should sell. It's about branding as Todd says all the time. He has repeatedly talked about Gold being are brand.

I think this is more accurate in maybe McDonough, GA or Newnan, GA. In major cities, not named Atlanta, nobody looks twice at a yellow shirt and thinks Georgia Tech. It doesn't even cross their minds as a possibility.
Well, I'm sure they don't look at a blue shirt and thing Georgia Tech either, so what's your point? Any sports-minded person sees a blue shirt, and either he doesn't think anything at all regarding college loyalty, or he assumes Duke, UNC, KY, or any of a number of other schools who wear blue, even if it's not the correct shade of blue.

The GT logo is my point. Btw its gameday, I'll wear a navy GT polo in your honor. ;)

Didn't know there were so many fashion experts on the swarm I am thinking about posting pictures of my shirts for everyone to critique. My wife usually picks them out form but she isn't as particular as some of you ;)

Busted out laughing and my SWMBO had a good chuckle too.

I’d be disappointed if we really don’t get a more standard gold color for at least the adidas gear. TStan talked about it as a major factor of his rebrand effort and we need some good news about the adidas situation right about now with the storm clouds swirling from before our time with the brand.

Interesting thread. When Nike redid Tennessee's uniforms, they did a total rebrand of the school too. The academic marks and the athletic marks were a mess with warring tribes. In the end ... there are two colors, Orange and White, as official UT colors. And Smoke Gray for specialty. The new Version is great imho.

Merchandisers sell all shades of product because of MLB. When the Yankees saw sales explode by making pink hats, everyone jumped into the pool. The emphasis now is on the logo, not the color.

Tech has a unique problem. The official color of Old Gold does not produce well in fabric, digitally, or signage. I've spoken with suppliers and their view is, "good luck".

Personally, I like the ND look of navy cap with the gold ND logo. It really pops. And the uniforms are beautifully classic. At least, they were. The rest of their branding is a mess.

I live in McDonough and anytime I see gold/yellow I look to see if it's a GT shirt lol.
I was standing at a food truck on Highway 11 in South Carolina near Lake Keowee, and saw a guy wearing a navy blue shirt. I looed to see if it was a Georgia Tech shirt and it was. I asked the guy wearing it if anyone told him he looks like Ted Roof, and he replied " I hope so, because I am Ted Roof." We ended up talking a while and he called my daughter (a big time GT fan) to thank her for coming to games.

And here they come...

I know not everybody likes them, but I love the honeycomb white helmets. That said, I like bringing them out for ~2 games a year. It keeps the gold as our standard helmets but keeps these in circulation.
Also, I hope Adidas has a good looking idea for how to incorporate the honeycomb look...maybe a subtle design inside the numbers or something.
