No, the consensus is we aren't likely to win a championship every season. I think most believe we can contend for it every year.

Some of us think that will happen more frequently with proper backing of the current regime.

Others think any new blood is the obvious remedy.

This regime or new.....if the staff doesn't have the resources to compete with other top programs, the on field results will show it. Those resources have absolutely not been present for many many years.

The new indoor facility didn't change this dynamic. It merely mitigated it a bit, but not enough.

I think the most we can expect is 7-9 wins seasons with a special season every 5-10 years;)

Idk if this has been said or not, but what good would firing CPJ do? At the end of the day you still have your limitations (budget, academics, CALCULUS, etc). Given all the openings in CFB this year, GT would fall close to the bottom in terms of attractiveness. CPJ is never going to leave for a better job, and he has done a decent job for GT over the past 10ish years. The problem that I have with him is that nothing is ever his fault. It always falls back on "oh the defense sucked" "specials teams were horrible" He can never take accountability for a short coming with the offense. I'm sorry but when you are down 3 scores, and you are running the ball damn near every play that is a problem with your coaching! I would have hoped to see him adapt his offense over the years, but everything has remained pretty much the same. With the talent that we have, and the players that we can get their is no reason that GT shouldn't be able to run an offense similar to what AU ran in 2012. Hell they had a cornerback playing QB, and went to a national championship game, (not saying GT could do the same...), but at least running some version of the spread gives you the ability to pass when you are down 3 scores, or need a quick strike, instead of this lets have a right handed qb drop back like a left handed qb, spin around, and throw up a prayer withing 30 yards of a wide open receiver.

I think a lot of people are thrown off by a coach that just states facts. In 2015, he stated that will all of the starters leaving the offense and all of the upperclassmen on defense that he had hoped that the defense would have improved to make up for the drop off in offense. People "read between the lines" to understand that he blames everything on defense. If he says that player X missed a block that would have won the game, he is throwing his players under the bus. He usually says what he sees and thinks, but many people try to find hidden meaning in his statements.

The offense does work. For whatever reason, we did not execute this year. Take a look at the top 20 rushing offenses from 2000-2017, pulled from www.sports-reference.com. http://cfbref.com/tiny/Af7YC As far as playing catch-up, we were near the top of the CFB last year in the number of plays of 50+ yards.

CPJ does accept responsibility for the games but he will also point out when those around him didn’t pull their weight.

I thought Marshall looked good at the beginning season, then appeared to regress as attrition hit the offensive line and opposing defenses got tougher. Like JT "regressed" in 2015 after being a stud in 2014. Then he became "good again" in 2016 when the cast around him solidified again.

I think TM will be fine. The other QBs will push him or possibly beat him out, and if so great. Utlimately the QB's success will depend on the quality and health of the OL, and if WRs can step up (Stewart to next level, two others step up). AB and BB look pretty good for next year.

Im not so sure about that. Lundsford was a A-backs coach under sewak, a coach under monken and fritz too. He knows what winning at southern looks like. If he gets them back to doing what they do with their identity we'll see a turn around. The south alabama game was the first game it looked like they played with any sort of game plan.

I just saw where Hal Mumme resigned as head coach at a Division III school (Belhaven U, and yes, Mumme is still coaching) to get back to coaching at a higher level. I’m not saying it would ever happen or that their egos would ever mesh, but could you imagine an offense that somehow combined Paul’s TO with Hal’s AirRaid philosophies. Defensive coordinators would call in sick the entire week before playing Georgia Tech.

One game we run the entire time... the next we air it out all over. You never know what you'll get when you play us.
