They aren't recruiting like they used to. GT is best state for blue chippers per capita. We can out recruit VT.
We'll see. We might, but we'll have to go to other states to do it. As I've said before, the high schools in Georgia can't produce enough 4 star athletes who can a) get into Tech and b) want to go there on a regular basis.

Personally, I'd put recruiting as well as VT and Pitt (they've been doing very well recently too) as our goal. I know a lot of folks here want to see us recruit with Clemson and Ugag, but that won't happen. Besides, as much as I like to beat those people, what we need to aim for every year is to win the Coastal. That gets us to the ACC championship game and gives us a shot at the MNC. I want to recruit with and occasionally better than the schools at the top of our division. That's all that really counts.

Well he declined to respond to email and he hasn’t denied he did so in that presser so what would be the point now?

There is little arguing he did it now. He isn’t gonna apologize for doing it or explain it beyond “recruiting is war.” That’s garbage imo and I’m likewise not going to change my take on things either.

Win with class.....not at all costs. He needs to bring in 5 star recruits now or he’s simply full of hot air....and juice.

Remind me to never get into a feud with you. This is some Hatfield-McCoy level grudge holding. I really don’t know why you expect a coach for a competing team to emphasize the positives of GT to a recruit we’re fighting for instead of the negatives (which even the hardest core of GT fans acknowledge exist). We are not a perfect place for every student/player and it is possible to sell against us without it being “dirty tactics”.

Now sure why we have to defend CPJ or CGC ,

I know you love Tech and are a great fan and season ticket holder, but you really sound like my wife that can't forgive someone who did something you don't like. Sometimes you have to forgive people , I like CPJ and still do but in the end I love Tech football more and any individual person or coach. CPJ and CGC have different styles that doesn't make one any better than the other. As far as CBK I like the hire and think he will give 100% to Tech as long as he is here and that is all I could ask of him. How long will he stay at Tech , I have no idea but I'm sure his goal is not be retire as an OL coach and if someone gives him the opportunity to be a head coach he would take it.

My dislike of Key has nothing to do with CPJ. I think he lacks character and integrity. I hope Key gets the opportunity you allude to soon and never comes back as his presence makes me like Tech a little less.

Others are of course free to forgive, forget, and love the guy. I don’t wish to see his career end. Just his career at Tech.

Why put a cap on what our staff can do before they've even tried? To me, Coach Key doesn't sound like someone who is going to be content with matching VT and Pitt in recruiting. Do you know better than he does what GT is capable of?

I think it's clear you've dug yourself so deep in this hole you're not coming out no matter how proven wrong you ever become. I feel like if Key saved your live on the side of the road tomorrow you'd find a way to erase the value of it just for the sake of this argument.

I don't want to troll you and I have no hope of changing your mind on this but I am just curious. What will be your reaction if he gets the head job one day? If all goes well with the program and Collins leaves at some point, Key will likely be at the top of the list.

Prior to Dabo coming in, I never thought Clemson would recruit on the same level as Clemson recruits.

First off....what has been proven wrong?

Lol. I’ll most likely find other interests.

6 pages in.. still no response to the question so I will ask again - anyone have a link to the full interview?
If it's coming out anywhere, I'd expect it to be on the GT Athletics podcast (albeit in audio only). Seems like most press conferences end up on there.
Edit: Just checked and all I see is the Coach Collins signing day press conference (which is 17 minutes long). Not sure if that includes the rest of the coaches as well, but I'll check and let y'all know after I've listened.

All this dancing-around is humorous. Do we all have short-term memory loss? Part of the 'culture' of the last staff was one of "It Is What It Is". A culture that absolutely did NOT have the positive outlook on recruiting that this staff does and if it did, it never projected it. A culture that never ever made a video like this. A culture whose fans made excuses as to why we couldn't recruit nor compete at levels this staff thinks we can. At another forum, the "We can't be Stanford" debate was endless, as was the reasoning for why we couldn't beat Duke anymore.

This new staff's attitude is very refreshing and their results so-far are promising.
This whole post is bull hockey. Let's go through this one by one:

• There is no such thing as a working football staff that doesn't have a positive outlook on recruiting. Ours did under CPJ; we have exactly the same number of 4 star recruits this year (i.e. 2 and one of those was CPJ's) that we had last year and had almost exactly the same recruiting rank as in 2017, the last time we had 20 scholarships to give. (You can check.) That you never got the message isn't their fault; it seemed to be working for the recruits.

• It is also true that none of Paul's coaches ever made a video like the one Key did. But that was because Paul wouldn't hire a blowhard, as some of these new kids seem to be. Also, the only explanation (not excuse) I ever heard Paul or his staff make about recruiting limits was that they had been starved for resources for many crucial years while Bobinski was at Tech and that TStan was going to do something about that. That's where the "It is what it is" statement came from, btw.

• I never heard Paul say word one about Stanford; that was the fan's idea. As for not beating Duke, I invite you (again) to look at Paul's overall record against them and at the comparative analysis I did on recruiting awhile ago. We've had some recent trouble against them due to one thing only: they had the best QB in the ACC (Better then Lawrence? Yes.) for the last four years and a coach who knew how to use him. It happens.

Mind, I like the new staff's attitude and I look forward to seeing if it works next year on the field and in our recruiting. And, yes, the results so far are promising. But, really, this continuous juvenile posturing in your posts should end. Now.

So he did not respond to an email from you? Shocking. He was probably doing something like visiting recruits, helping plan spring practice, working with our players here now, etc.

He hadn’t denied what in the presser? Could you, or anyone, pull up the portion of the presser where he was asked about your hurt?

And I seem to remember, please correct me if wrong, that you stated at Fan Day you would ask him face to face about his recruiting against, in your mind, GT. Or was it at the bowl game? Regardless, could you please record it and post it here?

Part of the point is you still bring it up in a disparaging way that attacks a GT letterman and graduate.

Speaking for myself, I will gladly welcome CBK’s 4 & 5* recruits to Ga Tech.

Look forward to your vid asking him to his face. Thank you, sir.

Well, he would have to sound like that if he wants to do well, wouldn't he? I don't know if he thinks we can do better then VT - they had 7 4 star recruits this year, remember, something we haven't done since 2007 - and I'm sure he'd like to. That's why I said what I did about getting to parity or better with VT.

As to what Tech is capable of, I don't think either Key or anyone else - except maybe Coach and TStan - knows. He went to Tech, but that was a much different school and I don't know if he has actually looked at the entrance requirements, the curriculum limits, the exceptions allowed, or the resources available in a systematic way.

There's a quote from Thucydides that's apropos here - I have it on my "slogan board" - and that we would all do well to keep in mind:

"Their judgment was based more on wishful thinking than on a sound calculation of chances; for the usual thing among men is that when they want something they will, without any reflection, leave that to hope, while they will employ the full force of reason in rejecting what they find unpalatable."

2500 years old and still sound advice.

So what’s your evidence and basis of “lacks character and integrity”?
