Good guys vs bad guys for top eight seed as of today.

RPI
Bad guys 5
good guys 7

SOS
Good guys 7
Bad guys 12

Q1 W/L

Good guys 17-10
Bad guys 18-11

Q1 plus Q2W/L
Good guys 26-14
Bad guys 23-12.

As of today which of these teams would get a top 8 seed IYO. AND the good guys took 2 of 3 from the bad guys. Any chance that both teams end up with a top 8 seed?

If you had to pick 1 and only one - look how many Q3/4 games they’ve played. And nearly all at home. Their non-conference strength of schedule is horrible and they’re barely a 0.500 team on the road.

In this week's projections, BA has Tech slotted as a 10-seed in regional with

Illinois
So Miss
Elon

7-seed Louisville would be Tech's opponent (in Louisville) should both win their respective regionals.

Well we nearly swept them on the road, but not for a bottom of the 9th comeback.

My gut tells me even if we go 4-0 this week, we might need to win the ACC Tournament to get a Super Regional. I'm fine with that. I mean, there can only be 8 of those, and a lot of these teams in the top 15 are so close, several of them will win their conference tournaments, and that may be what ultimately separates them.

4 of the top 8 are in the SEC. The more of those 4 that lose games this week and/or early in their conference tournament, the better.

I am rooting hard for UNC to sweep N C State so that will help our RPI (and there is no chance they catch us in the standings).

You're going to need to explain the logic here. ...unless you mean by rooting for UNC, your "superpower" will force UNC to lose.

Unless we lose the series to Pitt, UNC can’t catch us. And if that happens we’re losing the National Seed anyway. So yeah, UNC wins help us.

If we go 2-1, & (Miami & UNC) sweep... Miami wins the Coastal. We do finish 2nd, ahead of UNC, though... you're right about that.

Edit: I see what you're saying. I still want to finish ahead of them... ideally it's as you say with UNC winning.

It's all on us. If we can't sweep Pitt, we don't deserve to win the Coastal or a national seed. I hope UNC and Miami both sweep to help our rpi and we take care of business this weekend and we should get a top 8 seed.

Ok. We're in perfect agreement on "should win" over Pitt... where you lose me is IF we do stumble, I still want to win the division. You don't?

Of course I do. I have followed the baseball program for nearly 30 years. I listen to or watch every game, every season. Is all I am saying is I want to EARN a division title and not back into one. Even though we have been great at winning ACC series we still haven't swept a team. I will still take it even if we back into it but we should sweep Pitt. Now if we were playing up there I wouldn't expect a sweep but at home we should. But if Dook beating Miami helps our rpi, like ramblinwreckguru stated then I want Dook to win. I thought Miami winning would help us more since we lost that series but I haven't crunched the numbers.

Agree. Pitt has no business hanging with Tech this weekend... everything (timing & circumstances) should align for a sweep.

Yup, based on RPIs, it should be close to Western Carolina - games in the range of 10-3. I mean, that's the way it should be. Pitt gives up 7 or more runs half the time, and they've given up 10 runs a quarter of their games. And that's to a strength of schedule ranked #99 and a non-conference strength schedule ranked #276. Against us, #8 in RPI, and on the road, it should be a rough experience for them. They've only won 3 total games all year on the road (let that sink in). Their ACC road series were @NC State (swept), @Virginia (swept), @Duke (swept), @Florida State (1-2). That's 1-11 in ACC play on the road.

On top of all that, isn't Pitt already eliminated from all post-season play? If correct, that means these are their last 3 games of the season. Let's hope they are more interested in basking in the sun than playing hard.

If I were their coach, I'd be trying out some of the bench players to give them a chance and some time on the field to see what they've got.
