Seriously? Florida won 3 national championships running a spread option. Ohio State won one running a spread option in 2002. Texas won a national championship running a spread option with Vince Young. Auburn won one with Cam Newton running the spread option.
UGA is as good as Clemson and they're starting to get some of their injured players back. That game will be just as lopsided as last night's game was. We will lose unfortunately. That will make us 7-5. If we end up losing a bowl game too, then we'd be 7-6.
And I'm not basing my opinion on...
AE 87,
For your stat to be meaningful to me, I would like to see it adjusted for a per team ranking. Like zyang31 suggested, I believe this offense vastly underperforms versus better defenses.
Maybe you could you take your PPD and use a weighted average of the opposing team's defensive ranking...
Eric,
Thank you for posting that. I had never even heard of this, so I was very happy to read the article. IMO, this is the first step towards an early signing period.
At least very early in his career, the coaches thought Bailey was unable to play through pain. One told me (in reference to Bailey), "There's a difference in playing with pain and playing with an injury and he needs to learn that it is possible to play with pain."
Now that could have changed...
I'm not happy with 8-4 but I honestly think that's undoable. I just see no way that we're going to beat Clemson or UGA. That would mean a 7-5 finish. For $2.4 million per year, that's not getting what you pay for.
They got off lightly. And Bama and UNC will get off even lighter when their investigation is completed. Which will be quite some time from now.
The reason? Because the NCAA really doesn't want to punish the schools that make it a lot of money.
I agree with those predictions for the most part. With Virginia, there's that Charlottesville intangible that always seems to bother Tech...all the way back to the early 90's. I haven't seen them play and don't really know anything about them. But they were able to beat BYU somehow so they...
I expect us to Win/Lose/Win/Lose/Win/Lose in that order versus Syracuse/Virginia/Pittsburgh/Clemson/Alabama A&M/Georgia.
That would put us finishing the season as 6-6 if my math is correct. The one possible change is the UVA one but we have always seemed to struggle there, even when we had...
Great post and I sure do hope you're right. But Pitt, Syracuse, and Virginia are starting to look much tougher. And we've always struggled in Charlottesville.
Remember that UVA beat this BYU team in the opening game of the year. Combine that with the Charlottesville curse and it might be a tough fight to win that one.
