If we're going to be playing with 5 defensive backs as our base package, I would think that there are likely going to be six players playing those 3 positions.
That's the part you're missing. I didn't say the offense had been fine. I said it had MOSTLY fine. There were games in which we sucked. VT was a clear example, the Clemson game less so.
It's easy to look at the final score in the Clemson game and think our offense played just fine. But go...
To be completely candid, I think 3 or 4 of your posts in this thread are the most confrontational of all the posts. In fact, I can't see where mine was confrontational at all and I certainly didn't mean it that way.
I don't disagree with you; in fact, I agree with you.
But while "The offense has been fine for the last four years" might be true overall, there were multiple games where that was just not true.
It's a team game and sometimes the defense has to cover for the offense and vice versa. In those 2...

Go watch those 2 games and tell me how it was the D's problem in those games. In both games, the defense played decently but the offense was inept.
And don't give me the drivel about it being Vad's fault either.
Watch the Clemson game...
Nope. Custis hasn't made it through NCAA Clearinghouse yet. That's why he isn't at Tech.
Whitehead is now a transfer student. He is in Tech and will be practicing with the team and going to classes. He just isn't eligible to play immediately because transfer students have to sit out a year...
I was told Roof has already been implementing a 3-3-5 instead of the 4-2-5 because the coaches knew we were thin with "quality" depth on the DL, but we have an abundance of LB's who can play. I think what you're going to see is that we use the 3-3-5 as our "base" defense and move one or two...
Had he transferred from a non-ACC school, he could indeed have decided not to transfer any of his credits from GMC and just transferred directly from NC State and let last year be the year that he has to sit out to meet the NCAA standards. However, the ACC has a rule that transferring from one...
Anyone can play on scout team....scholarship, walk-ons, etc. The only ones who cannot work out with the scout team are ones who are specifically prohibited from team activities (i.e. Travin Henry could not).
Actually, what it really means is that Roof is also installing a 3-3-5 and we will be much more likely playing this as our primary defense instead of the 4-2-5.
This is not a GT problem. He was trying to take a very aggressive load of classes. A couple of them were online classes and he was unable to complete them in time.
Despite the fact that the news is just now coming out, the coaches have known this was a very real possibility for quite some...
Apparently, he's not officially enrolled yet but is allowed to participate while they work through the final hurdles of getting him cleared. Must still be at least something to worry about because it's not a completely done deal yet.
