Based on ibeeballins post in another thread on this topic this is a super dumb metric. All the tutors and assistants should get this bonus. They’re doing the work.
This thread makes it clear that the “student-athlete” crap bandied about on this board is just that.
The opposition to the rule has nothing to do with the SA’s best interest and everything to do with fans being worried it will negatively impact our competitiveness.
Given the fact that continuous low intensity head impacts are turning brains into mush we should probably encourage, rather than ban, blocking below the waist.
Better to have bad knees in old age than CTE.
I think the parity argument is irrelevant, but for the sake of debate every transfer that an SEC program takes is an elite prospect freed up for other programs. This could potentially improve our recruiting.
This is exactly what I’m saying.
Right now we are punishing kids for making a bad decision when they are 17-18 because we fear it will mess up the balance of football competition. How screwed up is that?
If you read the post by ibeeballin you would see why the grad rate is higher. Everything is lined up for the athletes. They just have to tap it in.
If college athletics was honest (at all schools) either the football player grad rate would be significantly lower than the student body’s or they...
The best part of the social media reaction is the defenders running down the program to prop up CPJ.
Nothing is going to bring in the recruits like a bunch of “fans” defending the extension by saying things akin to:
- it’s impossible to win here
- good coaches would never want to come here...
We are worse at damn near every position than we were in 2008 and 2009.
Something that jumped out at me the other day when I'd gone down the rabbit hole of GT videos on youtube was the size and speed of the guys of the guys running with Tarrant on this punt return:
Mario Butler, Morgan...
I don’t believe CPJ could recruit at a factory. So he might be able to win a championship at Auburn (they might have adequate talent on-hand).
Zero chance he could win a championship at UT. Their roster is trash.
UT was the worst loss. That was their worst team in the history of their program. They didn’t win a single conference game.
The UT loss was on the level of the Kansas loss.
With all of these analysts that may become a thing of the past. Our opponents can have entire sections of their staff devoted to preparing for our offense.
