Since today is the third of June, take a moment and feel sorry for Billy Joe McAlister who jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge on this date.

When that song came out I listened to it on the radio until I got sick of it. We discussed its meaning until I never wanted to hear it again. Then a few years ago I heard again after a long time away from it and realized all over again how brilliant it was. I think years later it may move me even more than it did as a teenager.
