Yall are out here making defend Collins like I’m a fan boy and/or don’t love Wells, but it’s obvious why CGC did what he did.
Practice is one thing, games are another is the point @Supersizethatorder-mutt is trying to make I believe .
Some guys are practice heroes and some guys are gamers. Coaches should know this.He gave him a ship. He isn’t going anywhere.
I like Wells too, but haven’t seen practice. Hopefully he outcompetes and gets back into the game.

I don’t mind the ATL thing but IF you allow that to take president over on field performance I have an issue. You don’t reward a kid for a good week in practice if your regular player is 100%. Now, Wells could be injured or something else could be going on that we don’t see.
I would usually agree with this.......but we have a damn good punter.I don’t know if 50 yards is beyond Wells’ range or not. That’s normally a no-man’s land part of the field where you usually only gain about 15 or so yards from punting it, so you have to go for it or try a field goal.
If he’d punted it and it went into the end zone, he’d rightfully get called out for it. If he went for the first, he’d probably get called out for that, too.
The only way you look good as a coach from that yardage is to not end up there.

Past performance by both of them. That doesn't mean that Wells couldn't have come back this year in a way not as good as last year. But he looked fine against Clemson, though with only 2 attempts, and the fact that King can't kickoff past the 20 doesn't speak highly of him overall. Yes, I know Wells has not done any kickoffs, but unless he has just totally gone to pot since last year, I don't see how King could possibly beat him out for XP's and FG's.
A competent staff knows that the past does not mean "nothing".New and competent staff. The "past" means nothing. It is what you are committed to now.

Worrying about someone's stats is foolish. If the FG kicker doesn't have the leg for the distance, you are better off taking the risk of starting them on the 20 or deeper instead of at the 35. If the kicker has the leg, then it is worth the shot.Eh. Hard to ask Harvin to pooch it from there. Most likely would have gone into the endzone and killed his net average. Going for it on 3rd and long when you cant pass is tough. And we had zero chance of making the FG and we all knew it.

Well then Walker will be the guy this week!!Thats maybe the silliest thing i have read in a while. The whole reason tobias started was referenced by collins how he played vs VT. USF last year etc. of course he knows his stats and in game results. Just like he knew about harvin
Yes; I know King is not buttkicker, but Wells is another Sisson!!Guys, he’s not the second coming of buttkicker. Relax.
Well, just to heat this up I think Wells is better.....but in this logic, and here it goes....Tobias Oliver should be our starting quarterback. He is the most athletic, strongest and proven.
I would have thrown a semi-hail Mary trick play where you just let them catch it and tackle them for a 30 yard interception and let them start inside their own 10. 90% of the time players trying to defend a ball they think is legitimate for a long throw will catch it and not bat it down...they think they can get a big runback
