If the police did investigate the incident in 2015, then Meyer would probably be cleared from a contract standpoint on that one. The AD knew, the police knew, etc. However, the committee might still be investigating when Urban knew and when the police got involved:
...
Meyer's statement sounds like he did nothing wrong. However, it sounds like pure spin. I might be wrong, but I still believe that from an OSU standpoint, the biggest question at the moment is whether they will have to pay the buyout or not. From what I understand, the committee investigating is completely made up of current or former OSU Trustees. I think the trustees are going to be more concerned about the university than the football team. Also, OSU is a public school unlike Baylor. They are going to be subject to FOI requests, which will make hiding the actual results of the investigation more difficult.

From what I’ve seen so far, I think he probably covered up for a coach he relied on. He should have acted at least to get Courtney Smith to safety nine years ago. Then you have to figure out what to do with Zach Smith.

The reason I think he might still get a settlement or even keep his job (low likelihood) is that I’m constantly reminded that people think differently than I do. There are Penn Staters trying to get the Paterno statue back up: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/...rno-statue-being-made-in-secret-location.html. I still run into Penn State people who won’t hear a bad word against Paterno, and I suspect a lot of OSU fans feel the same way about Urban Meyer.

I think it’ll at least take time to cut Meyer loose. Lawyers are involved, and that doesn’t speed things up.

If he’s fired tomorrow, it’s a sign I can’t forecast well. I’d believe it, though.

Meyer gets a slap on the wrist. All will be forgotten when they beat Michigan and make the playoff again this year.
I think this situation will be a distraction to Ohio State and i think they will go 10-2 losing to TCU and Penn State missing out on the Playoffs. I think they wind up playing Stanford in the Rose Bowl. The interim head coach will go 2-1 and Urban Meyer will go 8-1.

You know what I don't get? Why did OSU spend all the time and money to do their due diligence and then reach the exact conclusion they could've had two weeks ago. The Board of Trustees looks terrible IMHO. Like you say, it's a slap on the wrist - he can't coach game day but he can all week? Who cares about that? He doesn't call plays and the game plan will already be in place.

I never liked or disliked OSU before but man this looks really bad. Even in their report (which they released AFTER the press conference to avoid tough questions) they say that Urban 'didn't try to deceive'. WTF?! That's EXACTLY what he did. He could've told the AD early on that they'd had a problem with this guy before but he withheld that information. It's pathetic really.

I have sat a stewed over this, for some time now. I tried my best to remove emotions, irrational posts and fake news. The question is, did OSU do right on the Urban Meyer case? If it would have been a coach with a not so winning record, would the hammer had fallen harder? I personally, think he lied to save his job. He lied all over the place. That alone should make parents of future recruits leery. I don't trust someone who can't man up and just tell the truth.

What are your thoughts on this? Should of OSU did a harsher punishment? Should of the NCAA stepped in and said something? If it was a less known coach, would the punishment been career ending? Lots of questions, going on in my head.

Lol shots fired! Awesome post on urban cryer & Ohio st

Wow. Are you that clueless? They wrote that article and worded it like they did on purpose for a certain crowd of small intellectual people and you bit.

So either you already didn't like Urban or you're just extremely naive.

Actually I strongly dislike urban cryer. I also think the way he & Ohio st handled the whole situation is abhorrent. Plus their promotion silence the white was a stupid pr move with all this **** going on.

I take it you're a fan of that *** or are cynical enough to think that cryer is awesome since the football team has been winning & they're #4 in the country. Were you a fan of Baylor & briles too as long as they were winning?

I saw the whole silence thing. If I had a daughter at OSU, I would pull her out. OSU offiacially put Ws over decentcy and fair treatment towards women. Shame on them. That's all, I will say.
