I actually really liked the full steam ahead logo at mid field. The whistle is a GT icon. And once the game started I never noticed it again. Can’t wait for the new seats In GT colors. I stopped by the TCU stadium this summer and that is how you color a stadium.

I think everyone is positioning for 2030, 2034, and 2036 (unless CFB goes nuclear, then all bets are off). I think in 2029/30, the B1G will renegotiate their contract for 6 years to coincide with the end of the ACC contract and that a handful of schools will leave. I think there will be schools that will leave the ACC for the SEC in 2036 and the SEC will proactively negotiate their 2033/34 contract to expand in 2036 for the ACC schools that will be joining. But, all ACC schools will remain in the ACC until 2036 (unless someone tries to buy out a year or two like Texas and Oklahoma did). These dates are just too close unless it all blows up (which I think is quite likely to happen).

Georgia Tech is positioning themselves to compete at the highest level. It remains to be seen what that means. I doubt Cabrera will be president when all this happens. CEO's don't usually stick around 15-20 years.
We need him to stay for at least 20 years, or we can get a clown like the previous president.

I don't know how I feel about the making the midfield logo an ad for the fundraising campaign. Personally I would have rather had it as one of the secondary logos that get placed around the 25 on both sides. It just seemed a little tacky to me.

That being said, they brought it up in the broadcast, likely due to the prominence of it, and mentioned we had already raised 300 mil stating that it showed we are serious about building the program. Plus, it was mentioned again in the ACC Huddle after the game. So I guess it did bring the positive press coverage showing everyone that we are serious about competing at the highest level. The combo of J Batt and Cabrera is huge for Tech right now!
We need all the publicity we can get. Hopefully we can also increase the number of undergraduate students to 25k at least? The more students te we got, the higher the alumni base will be.

Would LOVE to know where they are planning on putting the visiting fans. It is time for the GTAA to return the favor of s&*4%# seats to the opposing fans and band.
I think it's time for zero opposing fan tickets allocated in the lower bowl, and none on the East. Stick them in upper north or upper southwest to hide them out of the primary stadium shots with the ATL skyline in the background.

Wow! Great interview!

I must say, I feel like I’m watching pigs fly. Having attended GT back when Pres. Pettit was trying to deep 6 athletics, this is no less than jaw dropping to me. Pres. Cabrera gets it… finally. The board gets it… finally. Athletics is a *huge* potential front door for the university. We should absolutely embrace excellence in athletics along with academics and student life.

THIS. I couldn't agree more. My wife's family has had tickets in the south stands of Memorial Stadium at Nebraska since the south stands were build. We're just offset to the Southwest of the goalposts.

If I crane my head and stand up on one of the bleacher seats, I can see the visitor section at the far upper southeast part of the stands. They're virtually NEVER on screen. Even when a team is scoring a touchdown in the South endzone, they're too high up to see. It's only when the camera crew goes looking for them that they show up on the broadcast. It goes far in perpetuating the story of "401+ consecutive sellouts" in Lincoln.

I would MUCH prefer to see empty stands with the Atlanta skyline backdrop than seeing a sea of our opponents' colors, that show up much brighter than white and gold do in the stands. (Of course, I'd also love to come close to regularly selling out our regular home games, but hey, one step after another.)

I just watched this again and I am just stunned at how good that interview was. Not only how well Packer did leading it, but the positivity and fluidity with which Batt responded. Their rapport was amazing and Billy Packer really seemed to long for Tech to get back to greatness especially on the basketball court, but football and all others as well. I think it was because, in all the uncertainty of college sports today, which severely challenges the ACC, here is GA Tech raising half a billion dollars to improve its athletic program. We are doing what we can to make the ACC as strong as it can be, and we are setting the bar for other ACC programs to do so as well. It’s a heady time to be a GT alumnus/fan, that’s for sure!

His alma mater wants to leave the ACC. He probably is conflicted.

The government of the state his alma mater is in doesn't want UNC going anywhere, the state would lose hundreds of millions if not $1B+ from the loss of ACC tournaments, offices, etc being there.

I assumed you were talking about Batt
You are correct about Batt. Played soccer. I am afraid he might go back as AD there if Cunningham retires. Wife is from Siler City NC so may be drawn back by family someday. Both UNC grads. My son went to UNC and knew his wife through a frat brother but not Batt.
Packer may have played golf or just walked on at Clemson.
Never particularly liked Clemson but the lawsuit really irks me. They were big time cheaters with Pell and Ford. Joke by UNC fans is the Clemson players can lift more than their SAT scores.

Just read that the East Side Club seats will require a $10,000 donation per seat, payable over 5 years. The Speakeasy club will require a $25,000 donation per seat, payable over 5 years.

I'm wondering if J Batt and his team has really surveyed their season ticket holders to see if they will pay that? I love Georgia Tech and our athletic programs and have been a season ticket holder for over 30 years, but I don't think I'd pay $10,000 per seat to sit in the sun. Hope they didn't miscalculate on this. A few folks on other sites discussing if they will renew or just buy seats in the same section on Stubhub.
