That was a total, complete, absolute and utter embarrassment. As my cousin called me to say, "Your team is getting their a** kicked!" The Paul Johnson yearly roller coaster ride makes me want to VOMIT as does everyone that says Tech simply must accept mediocrity. The first step toward renewal must be a passionate disgust with mediocrity.

I actually don’t think we’re an unattractive job for either money sport. A P5 head coaching job is still our most attractive feature. There are lots of coaches in America begging for that chance who wouldn’t mind putting up with the academic requirements. Hell, Les Miles just took a job at freaking Kansas. These guys like challenges. It’s a vertical move for any Go5 not named UCF.

It is funny how we all put our trust and belief in one person. We are looking for that one "great man" to lead us to glory days. If we don't get it then we feel justified in letting our support fall off and becoming apathetic as a way to "change" things. Question- What great "savior" of a coach wants to come to a program with poor fan support? What type of players do we hope to attract? We (fans) have more power when we show up united and pulling for our team. When the admin sees this they have to respond because they will understand the passion. They may make a move if the stadium is empty but likely to coach they hope will catch fire. If that happens that coach will leave first chance they get for a better job. We, the fan base, are a big determinent on if the Tech job is a good one or not. Our improvement as a program starts with us and should be a bottom up process. Push play on "God Bless America" as I say to you "ask not what your football program can do for you. But what you can do for your football program." Start by buying tickets snd showing up for kickoff.

I, and apparently many others, thought that in spite of low talent, he could still have been more aggressive. It obviously has not been overly impressive, but I HAVE seen more aggressiveness at times this year, and eventually that will pay off big time.

Agreed, IF we get more talent. If not, I am not so sure. But, I hope you are right. When your talent level is questionable, it is best to make the other team earn every TD. Today, we played soft zone all day against their 1st team O. I really don't see much difference. If you heard today, our 3rd down D is LAST in the US.

I am thinking all of the improvements we make over the next 2 years from the recruiting support system will have real dividends as well as the large fund raising that seems to be going well. If we can stay the same or better over the next 2 years, I think we should greatly improve our chances for getting a better coach and he will have more resources to allow him to be successful. On a personal level I hate it when people try to make decisions based on emotion and I feel like there is a lot of that going on now. That is the quickest way to fail. What we have now is not a bad situation. It is not great or excellent. But we continue to out kick our coverage.

And I don't see why you wouldn't combine those efforts with a new coach. I see no reason to stagger those efforts because there will be a transition period where we struggle regardless. I don't buy the idea that nobody wants to coach here and think the investments we are making to structure and recruiting staff need to be made alongside a coaching change to get the full effect. Also, the people calling for a change are not doing so out of emotions. There are very big and logical reasons to have no faith in Johnson as our coach going forward.

Going with a new coach isn't a crazy long shot. Johnson isn't some coaching god that nobody could possibly replicate the success he has had. Why are the odds high we would become irrelevant? We weren't irrelevant before Johnson, and if we are afterwards it will probably be just as much because we have to wait 34 years to bring in and coach OL, QBs, and WRs to run a different offense than anything else. That won't be going away. I'd rather us be in a stronger position with winning seasons and better support. But more support isn't going to come while we still have Johnson, andI based on recent history there is about a 50/50 chance of a winning season.
If more support won't come while Johnson is here, what about the next coach who might do something a sizable number of "fans" don't like? Should they withhold support too? If your answer is yes, then chances are we will never get anywhere. If your answer is no, then why should they withhold support under Johnson? No coach is going to satisfy everybody, but support should come in regardless of who he is or what he does. It's about the program as a whole, and not about one man.

What do you think the Auburn fans are saying after the butt-whipping they received today?

We are going to have to agree to disagree. I think it would be a huge mistake to let him go after this season.

Tech is currently not an attractive coaching destination and the odds of finding a better coach are small and not worth the risk. finding a new coach for next year would probably be a 10:1 odds of an improvement, there is just way too much stacked against us. I would never take those odds.

I agree with you here. The program needs money. Honestly even if they don’t spend it wisely. Falling behind in resources is an issue and not giving to the program eliminates the chance for us to catch up.

The difference between Johnson and the next coach will be hope. Many people have lost any sort of hope in Johnson, that will return by the nature of a coaching change. We saw that effect in basketball even though Pastner wasn't seen as a Grade A hire. We still saw increased excitement around the program in year 1. With Johnson there is no hope for a lot of people. With a new coach that hope will return just by nature of a coaching change.

And nothing will change about that in the next couple years. Johnson isn't going to turn us into an attractive job. Partially because some of the things are beyond the head coach. Partially because of how he chooses to coach. I don't see the point in putting off a decision that must be made.

Hope will be lost in year two of the new coach if he goes 7-5 too.

lol? We are 20% worse on third downs this year. We were good on third downs last year.

Some people see things they want to see, based on them wanting what they called to be the correct decision. Assuming NW does not leave on his own, in a few years, they will want his head also. It is always the DC's fault. I have watched since PJ got here, and it has been amusing how our defensive woes are always the blame of the DC's.
