IMO, there's something wrong with LJ...even before the sling. Watch the past spring games he participated in. He was explosive, and had better agility. He's running by LBs and DBs with ease. He was more confident in his throws and not throwing them in the dirt. Something is "off" with him. Even going back to his HS tape, he's throwing darts and backshoulder throws...it's beautiful.
He looks nothing like the recruit we signed or the guy that had two huge runs and nice passes in past spring games. Hopefully he gets healthy.
Boy, in your video of the spring game back about two years ago, LJ sure looked decisive and very effective in running CPJ’s spread option offense. Excellent point.
Now, after three games this season under a new and different offense, LJ has not looked as decisive and confident in his play, other than two long completed passes (one for a TD) in the Citadel game.
I suspect he hasn’t looked as good in the three games so far due to “information overload” in trying to do what he has been coached to do in the new system. Hence he has been feeling pressured and hesitant and unsure.
I guess that for him, it will take a while to gain experience and get more comfortable in the new system ... providing the OL can improve both its run and pass blocking to help him along.
