Do you know his current salary? I couldn't find it but I think 850,000 would be much more than he makes now. Just last year he was co defensive coordinator or maybe it was the year before after the other D coordinator they had retired.

http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/college/big-12/texas-christian-university/article148416564.html

This article says the highest assistant is the co-offensive coordinator at 567,000 salary. So should be well within our budget.

The scout team doesn't run the option unless we are about to play a team that runs the option.

Throwing the "bs" flag on this. We run option all Spring and the first 2 weeks of fall camp. No defensive player with a goal of playing in the NFL can get the reps they need to improve skills needed at the next level. We have 2 hands tied behind our back: 1) STEM school with no easy road, and 2) the offense.

I will say this one more time on this board to all you Johnson/option lovers. If you want to win at the highest level, you better have a passing attack . After year 10 this crap offense is still dead last in the power 5 in passing. Yes , there has been some decent years with converting third downs and winning the TOP. I will give Johnson credit on that. But , there is one thing that I can assure you on, being balanced of offense is the key to winning championship. Look at UGA this year , great group of running backs but they are inconsistent throwing the ball. They want beat Auburn next weekend. Back to my post on the offense. I honestly believe that the offense is the main issue with the program. Nobody really wants to watch it. It's boring!
I hope you realize that Gailey ran the kind of offense you would like to see, and he never beat Georgia (even got beat 52-7, or something like that, one year, while Johnson has beat them 3 times), never won an ACC championship (inexplicably losing to Wake), and never went to a major bowl (Johnson has been to two Orange Bowls). The only thing Gailey had going for him was a sometimes decent DC (with personality issues) who attacked on defense. You may not like Johnson's offense, but he has had more overall success than Gailey did with a passing offense.

Lol must have a passing attack? Wisconsin is 98th in passing, Stanford 96th, Bama 81st and I think they were worse than that last year, and UGA 113th. Auburn, ND, miss st, and Michigan st were all teams 65th or worse.

You do know GT is one of the biggest play teams in the country on offense as well right? You keep trying to argue opinions against facts.

Begs the question, how do we have defensive players in the NFL if "No" players can overcome practicing against our offense?

Orlondo Steinhour at Fresno State is who I would like, and we could hire him tomorrow with Roof's salary.
Pete Golding at UTSA is young guy worth looking at. They were 10th in scoring D and 6th in total D.

I saw the same UTSA stat. Had to look up the guy. Guessing the caliber of offense he was facing had something to do with it?

Morgan Burnett didn't get drafted? Derrick Morgan didn't get drafted? Brandon Watts didn't get drafted? Jemea Thomas didn't get drafted? Jeremiah Attaouchu didn't get drafted? DJ White didn't get drafted? Adam Gostis didn't get drafted? No I guess no defensive player at GT will ever get drafted or play in the NFL.

I think its a matter of finding someone that is modern and not a has been fossil. Find a energetic, young DC with some fresh ideas. I think we need to break the old man, old style molds.
You may be correct in this thinking, however, CPJ has has a few attempts at this and keeps striking out. Look, I'm not even sure where I stand on the topic of letting Roof go, but CPJ has not shown that he can hire a good DC. At some point it comes down to the head coach and his ability to put the right coaches in place. After 10 years, I seriously question his ability to do this.

I didn't say we had to pass for 300 yards a game. I'm just telling you that this offense we run will Never be good as throwing and in return you're going to struggle winning a lot of games. If you take away all of the cupcakes games in Johnson tenure, he doesn't have a winning record. You do realize this right ?

This is true for 75% of college football teams... Such as cherry picked stat.

After about 40 years as a GT fan, I question the so-called fans commitment to the program.

Passing attack!!!!!!!!!! I have been waiting on you to mention this category
. Do you want to talk numbers on passing ? I'm sure I don't have to tell you. Running the damn ball 90% of the time is not going to win championships at this level. Maybe in D2 or high school but this is big boy football.
I just gave you the numbers on passing of some of the top teams in the country. Yes we need to be efficient passing but our system we run doesn't mean we can't. There are schools who run stuff besides what we run and don't have good passing attacks, you just need the right QB. Your arguments are not being backed with facts, just opinions.

We we're not close in 2014! Be honest to yourself. We'll just finished year ten and the passing attack still looks the same since Johnson took over. There is some major issues with this aspect of the offense. I personally think Johnson knows he's running out of time and that's why he doesn't care to change.

Agree with you. For the most part this year we looked incompetent in the passing game. Any success was due to luck (equivalent of a Hail Mary on 70% of pass attempts. I am not laying this at TQM's feet. CPJ gets 90% of the blame.

Why are comparing stuff to Gailey ? Mark these words my dude. Tech his heading downhill with Johnson in charge. I am thankful for his time here at tech and the good wins we have had but, his time is slowly coming to an end. Stansbury is a former player. He is looking at the same product most football guys like myself are seeing. We have played the game and there is a certain style you want to look like and play like. The product on that field is below standards. Some of you can defend and defend all you want but Johnson is coming to a close. Do you guys really believe Stansbury is going to keep giving Johnson extensions??

How am I not backing up facts ?? Go back to 2008 and you will not find tech anywhere near the bottom of the conference and maybe the power 5 in passing category. Only one we may lead is passing yards per attempt and yards per catch.

Look at it through the eyes/ears of a high school kid, and an elite football player at that. It's an easy pitch for an opposing recruiter to tell the kid GT will not do a good job preparing him for the pros. No chance to practice pass-rush against a cut-blocking, run-blocking offense. No chance to hone your pass coverage skills against the nation's best blocking WR corp. Oh and you're gonna get cut block for 4 years in practice. Doesn't matter the reality of that, that's what these kids are being told you can bet on it. A few defenders active in the NFL for GT isn't going to sway 98% of these kids.
