Wow this thread has gone of the rails. Back to the actual topic of Roof and the defense. Anyone have any interesting names to toss out?

The option offense is crap. Scratch it for the love of the game.
So you ignore the facts? Top 5 finishes twice and multiple top 25 finishes with recruiting classes in the 50's is crap? Please elaborate and give examples instead of just your opinion. Me giving facts and you giving opinions just proves you don't like it (which is fine and I understand) but it doesn't make the system crap, it just makes it something you don't like.

Where has the offense been the past three seasons? We have 19 L
Probably not, but a win over FSU would have had at least put us in consideration.
Doubt it

Chad Glasgow, runs a 4-2-5 so we already have the players for this. He learned under Gary Patterson as well.

I've always been impressed with Patterson defenses. He usually has one of the best defenses in a very offense heavy league. I was looking at Chad earlier. Not sure we'd be able to round up the funds to lure him, but that's a name I could get behind.

Hell, man, even with those 3 losses, we still finished 8th in the country. I guarantee you that a win over FSU would have gained us consideration.

It would have been possible to get in that year with 2 losses, but it would have taken: Ohio State losing, Alabama losing, the two Big12 teams losing. None of those things happened. By the time GT played the game with FSU, Alabama had already guaranteed that GT couldn't make it.

In 2015 you do know we had 3 Bbacks injured, around 6 Abacks, a WR leave the school, and I think Two OL guys injured right? Last year we were 21st in offensive efficiency and 24th going into the game yesterday,, so we will probably end around 30 or so after today. You still didn't answer why it's a crap offense. Like I said, if you don't like it I understand that, but let's not mistaken something for being crap because we personally don't like it.

I didn't say that we would have made it, and with 2 losses, we shouldn't have made it, but with only 2 losses (not 3), I really do believe our name would have been mentioned.

Feels like the renowned institute needs to come up with an athletic budget worth a damn.
I will say this one more time on this board to all you Johnson/option lovers. If you want to win at the highest level, you better have a passing attack . After year 10 this crap offense is still dead last in the power 5 in passing. Yes , there has been some decent years with converting third downs and winning the TOP. I will give Johnson credit on that. But , there is one thing that I can assure you on, being balanced of offense is the key to winning championship. Look at UGA this year , great group of running backs but they are inconsistent throwing the ball. They want beat Auburn next weekend. Back to my post on the offense. I honestly believe that the offense is the main issue with the program. Nobody really wants to watch it. It's boring!

Do you know his current salary? I couldn't find it but I think 850,000 would be much more than he makes now. Just last year he was co defensive coordinator or maybe it was the year before after the other D coordinator they had retired.

Maybe poke around the Group of 5 to see who's running good defenses there. Not sure how many (good) P5 DCs would look at GT as a promotion.

Orlondo Steinhour at Fresno State is who I would like, and we could hire him tomorrow with Roof's salary.
Pete Golding at UTSA is young guy worth looking at. They were 10th in scoring D and 6th in total D.

Passing attack!!!!!!!!!! I have been waiting on you to mention this category
. Do you want to talk numbers on passing ? I'm sure I don't have to tell you. Running the damn ball 90% of the time is not going to win championships at this level. Maybe in D2 or high school but this is big boy football.

My post was saying that IF: Alabama, Ohio State, Baylor, and TCU had all lost on that day and GT had won, that GT would have been in the playoffs. It was just obvious after the Alabama game that there wasn't a chance.
