Thanks, I don't remember even hearing him throw someone under the bus. I have heard him answer questions when asked. I have also heard him take plenty of blame, actually a lot this year.
He should. He's the captain of the ship. If he is going to get the glory when the team play good, he damn well better take some or all the responsibility when the team has had a chance to go bowling again two straight weeks and have laid two big eggs. His message has gone stale.

When/if Roof goes, I'll be curious to see what kind of resumes GT receives for his replacement. Not everyone is going to jump at the chance to rep against option personnel. Scout team or whatever.

The scout team doesn't run the option unless we are about to play a team that runs the option.

As nice as it would be to have Venables, that's unreasonable, but there's nothing keeping us from finding a man who has the same defensive philosophy as Venables. Roof's "bend but don't break" philosophy doesn't work, and his constant use of the prevent defense at the end of halves does nothing but prevent us from winning. As far as the Hill, they have no say so over athletics, other than providing fields of study that athletes can do well in, and even that is out of the Hill's hands, because the Ga BOR controls that, even apparently to the extent of requiring all Tech students to take calculus.
There is one thing I have learned over the years of reading this board. It is always the same ole argument about the issues at Tech. The school doesn't care about our opinions. They don't care about football. They care about building the next rocket that's going to take mankind to another planet. I really wish GT would change but the truth is , it want happen.

by personnel I mean the scout team they are practicing against are still players recruited for an option offense. e.g., I can't see how GT pass defense will get any type of look from a 3rd team option QB trying to throw or run an offense they get no practice in ( like during individual or unit drills).

Also it's my observation that many fans overlook the importance of spring practice. There is a lot of 1 vs 1s and GT defense is not benefiting from defending against GTs offense during these periods. I'm sure CPJ gives the defense some "traditional" looks to practice against but it's not the same.

If I was looking at the GT DC job, I'd consider that.

Agree the hill is a huge issue. That's why I don't put much blame on CPJ, especially when he has his unit overpreform for the most part.
I put all the blame on him. I'm ready for GT to veer away from the option and get back to real football. Ten years of this gimmick crap is enough.

If you get right down to it, the Hill shouldn't care about football, aside from the fact that good football teams affect the overall image of the school. That's why the AA is, and always has been, totally separate from the Hill.

Yea, that's what we need. Let's start running the pro-style offense with all the 5 stars that we'll get once we don't run the option anymore. We won't have to commit anymore money and we'll win National Championships consistently. Watch out Bama, here we come.* Lol

*Sarcasm, in case that wasn't readily apparent.

There is a lack of commitment from every high source at GT. I disagree that they shouldn't put football first. Why compete at the highest level if we're not going to contribute at the highest level? You can not be Princeton Monday--Friday and be Oklahoma on Saturday. It's never going to happen.

And we are competing for NC and all these players now ?

No, but we were a few points away in 2014. Think about how close we could be if we could just match a school like Boston College in monetary contributions to the program.

Edit: Just asking that people try to remember that we are not far removed from 2014. A year where one defensive stand against UNC and a healthy Smelter against FSU gets us into the playoff. Even with a horrible budget for football.

And tech is running for Bama now ? I don't like the option , I never have and never will. Some of you guys like it and that's ok. I don't know what a " Pro style offense is " do you ? I want more shotgun with a better passing attack. I want some formations with TE.

We we're not close in 2014! Be honest to yourself. We'll just finished year ten and the passing attack still looks the same since Johnson took over. There is some major issues with this aspect of the offense. I personally think Johnson knows he's running out of time and that's why he doesn't care to change.

Not close? See edit above. One last minute defensive stand against UNC and a healthy Smelter gets us into the playoff in 2014.

I will make a friendly bet with you. A varsity meal before a game haha. My bet is : Tech will NEVER make the playoffs with Johnson in charge. Are you up for that ?

There is a lack of commitment from the fan level. The coaches cannot keep up with Clemson if Clemson has support staff for things as reviewing recruits. The fans want GT to get the best recruits, but the GT coaches are the only ones who are on staff to review recruits. Clemson has many people who review recruits and pass up viable candidates to the coaches. People on this forum have complained that GT doesn't spread their recruiting net out. GT does not have enough people on staff to review more recruits. Why do you expect the limited staff at GT to perform as well as the extended staff at Clemson? If you want the GT staff to perform the way the Clemson does and compete, the only way to do it is to contribute more so the GTAA has the resources to provide staffing. You can't pay for a Yugo and expect BMW performance. It's never going to happen.

I don't get blaming the hill and then saying you blame CPJ. If he's not given resources because of the hill how is that on CPJ? Also you want real football? When has GT ever had "real football" besides decades ago? He's historically been one of the better coaches at GT playing the tougher schedules compared to those who were before him. You call it a gimmick crap of an offense yet it has been top 5 in efficiency two years and multiple other top 25, how is that crap? If you don't like the style I understand that. But to make comments like "gimmick crap" when he's done what he has with his offense doesn't make sense to me.

The option offense is crap. Scratch it for the love of the game.
