The last few years, it didn’t see like we had enough time to practice the plays we ran often, much less open up the blocking schemes and play book. But, I would have liked seeing that too.

Both offenses are practice intensive because of the reps needed for adjustments. IMO, it only works if you emphasize the Air Raid, complement with the spread option.

I went back to look at the data. Since Dodd, we won 9 games in 70, 85, & 2000 where we played 12 vs 13 games. Of the 8 win seasons, only 1999 had 12 games or less. We were 8-5 in 91 & 2001. In none of our 8 win seasons were we conference champions, or even second, so we wouldn't have gotten to the ACCCG had it existed anyways. All three of the 9 win seasons would most likely have netted an extra win. So there are three seasons possible, not 8.
Also have to remember bowl games as well. Look at how many season we had 6 or 7 wins but no bowl game. 75 and 89 had the potential as well, with 7 win seasons but no 12th game, bowl game, or conference championship. Base formula is 14-total games + wins

Years we could have had 10 wins: 70,75,85,89,99,00
I did miscount 2 years due to us having bowl games those seasons

YES!! Let's quit finding ways to bash CPJ over and over again and just move on. Let's give CGC a chance without trying to build him up by trashing the last coach. I know there are people who feel they are finally getting the offense they've always wanted but just feel good about that and move on. Quit making your case on and on and on.

And vice versa.

When I first say the title I thought it was Quincy Acy who played basketball at Baylor ans now with the Nets. I couldn’t figure out why he cared about GT, The 3O and ATL.... Then I realized it wasn’t him. Lol.

And vice versa.

No one has bashed CGC or his schemes. Only one coach on the current staff has been bashed at all. Not true for CPJ, Roof, Sewak, etc etc. so don’t be a hypocrite. A CPJ hater once again started this so take your complaint there.

Or I could just start talking about Key again to make some comparisons and keep this thread going and fresh...

It is pretty funny how all the CPJ haters make claims about bashing Collins yet can't provide the proof.

...and definitely if it’s 3rd and 1 or 2 and we line up in the gun.

That doesn’t bother me. Alot of great running teams operate from the gun and there is no stat that says they are worse at it than under center. The sweep action can spread D out and make the lb freeze. Its just a diff style

I think he's speaking for the recruiting scene in the area. There are a lot who may be attracted to Atlanta but were turned off by the option. Granted, running a different scheme is no guarantee of landing players. And the negative recruiting against CPJ was quite distorted. But you have to admit we went from a coach who scoffed at negative recruiting, expecting reality to change minds to a person who is keenly aware of perceptions and exploits them to our advantage. CGC as successor to CPJ is perfect. He inherits a team high in character and cohesive and is able to turn perceptions around. He knows CPJ got a bad rap, but instead of either dwelling on it or joining it, he's quietly respectful of CPJ while focusing on his vision letting the contrast be implied.

My brother (who plays D1 football) tagged me in this last night and was going back and forth with a Tech fan. All I could say is "Why?" What point was he trying to make by pressing send on that tweet??? Stupid.

His tweet was one of the dumbest and least explainable tweets I’ve read.

I can understand an Atlanta area passing coach who trains players to sling the ball, and sees mainly players who throw well and often, and sees the best passers in the area, looking at Tech over the last few years and being frustrated his players don’t seem to fit at his hometown school.

Somehow, the option coaches don’t get their vents out as publicly, if they vent at all.

He said in a tweet that Yates, Griffin and Ezzard were “his kids”. If that’s the case, CGC and staff need to show this guy some love!

I agree it can be done with success. But it creates some inherent difficulties regardless. Kinda like our past scheme OL in a 3 point stance on pass plays. Even when done with success it creates some inherent difficulties.
