Redshirting players at Tech makes no sense if they can play. Many players will get their degree in three years and then transfer with their GT degree and two years left to play. We develop them, give them a degree and they give their best years to someone else. Sigh.
Right now it seems to me it is working well for both parties, we're in an upgrading mode each year as our recrutitng gets better and better, they contribute some, get a GT degree and then go some where else get them selves a little money, playing time and see if the league is interested and on with their life with a GT degree in hand. Looks to me like a win win for all.

Huh? How does it help Tech if they leave and play their best years somewhere else? How is redshirting them and losing a year of their production a "win" for us?

I think it depends on the position. Getting more strength is crucial for both lines and that is the place where you see a lot of redshirts
Certainly depends on position but I have the feeling it’ll move towards “not intentional” redshirt. Meaning it’s not a preseason deliberate thing, just they couldn’t crack the field and no injuries so they red shirt by default of not playing 4 games.

We're pretty darn deep at WR, and it may be our deepest and most talented position group. If you're just looking at on the field considerations, Janneh was probably going to have a tough time getting snaps next season.

If every key player on offense stays healthy, this has the potential to be CPJ's 2014 Offensive FEI special.

If they leave early it doesn't, if they are at GT long enough to get a degree, contribute during that time and move on then IMO it's a win win. Some of these kids are seeing that what is coming in is a better player so they are moving on, may even be told they are not going to get much playing time going fwd. That happened a lot after spring practice '24. Goes back to my original premise, that we are recruiting better and better all the time it seems. I could see some of the '25 recruiting class playing as FR, they may be that talented. This could cause some kids to move on to a place where they can play.
This is the new reality of CFB so many talk about on here.

He's played 4 years. Seems like at this point we are just getting into magical additional years out of the blue.

Again, if they can contribute early, redshirting them is a waste, which is what I stated. It is not a win-win for us to waste a year where they could be on the field that they end up playing at another school.

Aren't we two weeks into the semester? Why are we still seeing new transfers? I know graduates can transfer any time, but why wait two weeks into the semester?

Well if he graduated he was probably seeing if he was getting into grad school. That decision is nto for spring admission but for fall semester. He probably didn't get in. If he had he'd be able to stay with the team through spring because he would be continuaing enrollment ( might even be able to take a few courses in the summer) but if he did not. Well he's gotta transfer. It sucks and we really need to fix it on the hill.

He did not find out whether he got into grad school two weeks into the semester.

Thats not entirely true. He may have been rejected and applied for an appeal.
The appeals are not resolved two weeks into the semester. He would not be able to sign up for any classes at this point. He is either in school or he is not. If he is in school, then it is not due to some grad school approval / rejection. If he is not in school, he has known for weeks he was not going to grad school.
