Right, I thought his eligibility was up? But some dude from Miami just finished his 9th year so what do I know.
The appeals are not resolved two weeks into the semester. He would not be able to sign up for any classes at this point. He is either in school or he is not. If he is in school, then it is not due to some grad school approval / rejection. If he is not in school, he has known for weeks he was not going to grad school.
Not sure if serious.Right, I thought his eligibility was up? But some dude from Miami just finished his 9th year so what do I know.

I was in grad school at Tech less than ten year ago. I was in classes with several football players. No one is waiting two weeks into the semester to find out if they got in to the graduate program. Again, they shut down registration before the end of the first week. He would not be able to be part of the team if he did not attend classes this spring. There is no logical explanation for this.Unless he got the decision a month or two ago and they've been trying to do some things man. ****s not the same as it was when you or I were going through. These kids go year round, and usually get out in 3.5 years. or less.

He could be finishing his degree this semester and looking for a grad school for the fall.I was in grad school at Tech less than ten year ago. I was in classes with several football players. Agreed, hanging out with 18-19yr olds when I was 22 felt weird enough. Dude should be 5 years into his career and is still hanging out in college.ESPN did a bio on him before the Miami / Florida game I believe. They spun it as a heartwarming story of perseverance. For me it viewed as one of the more depressing stories of the season. This dude is like 27 and couldn’t bring himself to start his life. Imagine being 23 still trying to play HS ball. Just sad. And borderline creepy.

Bingo! He could be finishing his degree this semester and looking for a grad school for the fall.
TBH, I was in school at 27, too, albeit grad school. Could it be this guy is in grad school and playing out his (extended) eligibility?
This makes more sense. But why go into the portal now and not after spring practice, since he will be at Tech for the rest of the semester anyways? He also cannot start snother school until the summer if he is finishing his degree this spring. Just weird. He could be finishing his degree this semester and looking for a grad school for the fall.
Presumably to let other coaches know he will be available so he can talk to them now and apply for their grad schools now. I don't know what kind of timeline grad school admissions happen on, but I'd imagine he wants the window of opportunity to be open as long as possible to get the best chance at landing somewhere he wants to be.This makes more sense.
