DO NOT WATCH! HEAD WILL EXPLODE!
We definitely should have punted. He must have thought there was no chance to stop them... which points to some really big concerns I've had about or D
This isn't anything new. In eight years it seems like more often than not we are having to out score teams to win while running a ball control type offense. Where on Earth is the commitment to defense?
I want or HEAD coach to start answering more often to why we are so soft on the defensive side of the ball. Why have we given up TDs on the opening drive of the game so often? Why are we so overly aggressive on offense, yet so apathetic on defense?
Our O played good enough to win that game, but we acted liked defense was just a formality.
We've played better at times on D this year, but often I've thought it was because teams did not exploit our weakness...and Pitt did just that.
Paul didn't punt on 4th because he knew we'd give up a FG. Just like everyone else on this board...but the real question we all need to ask is why is that the case? How on earth can we be that bad on defense?
I missed the game due to Hurricane Matthew aftermath. I know we lost, but is it worth watching replay? I don't need more frustration right now....
Cheese, I would suggest watching. It was a very good and exciting CFB game. It was an evenly matched, well fought contest in that, unfortunately, we had a couple unfortunate breaks go against us. We fought back and were in position to win, but didn't.I missed the game due to Hurricane Matthew aftermath. I know we lost, but is it worth watching replay? I don't know what can be done about this besides a)) convincing the Hill to go all UNC on our athletes (goooooood luck), or b) ponying up the cash to help with the problems (strange how seldom this comes up).
I think it is worth watching again. One poster adamantly stated that you should not watch because your head will explode. It was frustrating because of the poor play by the defense and the fact that we were literally inches away from having a chance for a win. I think you would be encouraged by the play of the offense. The line is, by and large, improving, the backs run hard and the perimeter blocking is getting better. It is remarkable to me how the officials can call holding on Green who blocked his man exactly the way you would want but manages to get his arm around the guy's leg as they go down yet they do not call blatant holding on their lineman while completing the tipped pass that went for nearly 80 yards for a touchdown. It was that kind of a day.I missed the game due to Hurricane Matthew aftermath. I know we lost, but is it worth watching replay? I don't need more frustration right now....
TOTALLY like that post !!!I will gladly give more going forward if the GTAA and the new AD do these two things - treat me like a customer and share a plan on what will be done differently going forward to justify the investment. They have seemed rather indifferent lately.
I would do the same Cheese. I think you will see enough to know that we have a great chance to beat NC. I am not sure I fully understand the giving up on the NC game. NC beat Pitt by 1 in the last two seconds of the game. And NC beat FSU by 2 in the last second of the game with a FG. Miami just played FSU even and we played Miami and Pitt even except for a couple of plays. It will be come down to a turnover and a last second score IMHO. A game worth watching and a team worth cheering on.Cheese, I would suggest watching. It was a very good and exciting CFB game. Hope you are well.
Cheese please watch games and see if you agree that the ol is playing faster.
Also check out the final 4 & 1 play call. No real issue with mills carry, but sure seems like we should have tried to go to right and probably off tackle.
Also seemed like on that play freddie and mills started faster than rest of line View attachment 1933
Apologies if this has been answered already, but Brandon Adams did come in when Pitt had first and goal. And if the situation was reversed where Pitt faced a 4th and 1, I believe he would have been in for that. He's a situational player at this point. That was me asking that question in chat and I still can't figure it out!
Hope you are well.

I don't see it that way. I just rewatched the game and noted several things that bother me half way through the season. We are getting better but IMO are nowhere near where we need to be to beat good teams week in and week out. Our pitch relationship to the QB for the most part, are terrible. It looks like they don't have a great feel for it a majority of the time. They are too close or don't give the QB a good lane to make the pitch. To me, we look slow off the ball and don't stay on track. The difference would be 4 -5 yards instead of the 1-2 yards we get. We haven't had an "explosive" run from the BB position in weeks. Since Dwyer people complained that our BB's couldn't take it to the house yet we don't have one now that can take it 20 yards. I attribute that to poor vision and slow through the mesh. It's easy to blame the OL for some of it, as most do, but the QB and the BB play has to get better. Good teams find a way to win. Maybe that's why we lost 3 in a row....We just aren't that good right now. Hopefully, PJ will right the ship soon. It sure would be nice to get to a bowl game this year but it's going to take a total team effort. No one guy can do it by himself.
7?Honestly, after last year, I would be delighted with an 8 win season. I think we are headed to a 7 though, which is far from terrible.
We need better leadership though, and I'm hoping Todd brings that. A good A D works wonders.
Not really, we blewitt.I missed the game due to Hurricane Matthew aftermath. I know we lost, but is it worth watching replay? I don't need more frustration right now....
Dwyer had a kickass line. The only way the BB is going to pop a 20+ yard run is if the line gets to the 2nd level to make a block. Also the edge game has to get more explosive for the BB to be. No defense right now is really worried about an AB busting a 20+ yarder either. The TO is supposed to create a numbers advantage but it isn't because teams are playing us with just their D line and letting the safeties and linebacker fly to the ball. Our line can't get to the linebackers consistently.I don't see it that way. I just rewatched the game and noted several things that bother me half way through the season.
