This post makes me think you must be a recent a graduate from tech that isn’t familiar with anything before Johnson. Because nothing you said makes sense. Literally nothing. Gailey had a better record and made bowl games his last 4 years. GT was rated in the top 15 in each of his last 3 seasons at some point. We haven’t been rated in the top 25 once in the last 4 years and have missed at least 2 bowl games. We have become completely irrelevant. Gailey’s last recruiting class was rated in the top 20 in the nation and 08 was looking good as well before we fired him in 08. You just couldn’t be more wrong with anything you typed.
2007 bowl game Fresno state we lost 40-28, 2006 bowl game West Virginia we lost 38-35 , 2oo5 bowl game Utah lost 38-10
as for recruiting the 2007 was a good class but the best recruiter was a player in that class Kyle Jackson

In spite of the crappy games against USF, Pitt, and Duke, I don't see us as a program going in reverse. With Woody and a reinvigorated and steadily improving defense, and with all the depth we have now on offense, I think the next few years look incredibly bright. Johnson DOES, however, need to get the Duke problem solved; there's no excuse for them beating us regularly.
The program is not just the W/L at the end of the season either.......there is also what happens to our STUDENT athletes!

Here's the thing for me ... last night I watched the 1998 GT/UNC game, this was with Lil'Joe at QB, Oleary was the HC and Friegden was the OC.
We had a Option-Based offensive, but NOT the Triple-Option.
We had a fairly balance attack, the passing game was effective, we had TE's and used them effectively ... why can't CPJ morph his offense, he has to see it's limitations, or does he just too stubborn and not want too ???
I really loved Fridge’s offenses. If anyone knows where there’s another Fridge and when we make a change we sign him up that would be good.

I have to admit I love the physicality of the TO. When our OL punishes the opposing defense it’s a sight to behold. Fridge’s offenses were built on flash which is nice. There is nothing better though than beating the living crap out of another team’s defense and have them lying in a heap afterwards wondering how the hell those nerds just physically kicked their ***. It’s not the same feeling when you bear hugged them all day and ran a bunch of good routes. A close second is having CJ making circus catches. Just my cut.

I respect your opinion but completely disagree. But that’s ok.
Who cares? We went 7-6 in 2007. Why does it matter if the polls overrated us at some point? The polls suck. Chan Gailey had us ranked 0 times at the end of the season. Even if we do CPJ haters favorite move and remove 2008 and 2009, CPJ has more years with end of season top 25 than Gailey did (1, but 3 with 09 and 08). 2006 was almost a great year, but the vaunted pro style offense scored 6 points against Wake Forest with Calvin Johnson on the roster.

If people want to long for the Oleary era where we had flunkgate and were paying a staff near the top of the NCAA, then I can at least understand since the team was good. But anyone who looks back at the Gailey era fondly has lost their mind.

Come on man. I would rather climb into the top 15 and fade late than never be in the 25 at all. The point is the nation had some respect for us and we were on the radar. These last 4 years have been abysmal and easily the worst 4 year stretch over the past 20 years. Why you want to support the coach that has caused this descent is beyond me but I’ve resigned myself to just understand this mentality is a reality to this board.

You can say it all you want, but it still does not make it true. It is called an opinion. Just Like a$$h01es, everyone has them.

My opinion is now that we seem to have a decent DC, I want to see how that works out with a top rated offense that we always have. I want to give the coach 2 more years before I decide if it is time or not.
I also want the AD to light a fire under CPJ to FIX special teams. No excuse for that.
Not only does he have a DC worth a darn, he also has an AD a as well.

As people have told you time and again the issue is the last 4 years. We are a program going in reverse. But you know that and still don’t care and are probably simply happy you got a response to your post explaining that again. What the heck. I’ll press post anyway.
First, the original post this discussions is about, is about THIS year and fighting for a bowl game THIS year. Nothing by me or the original poster talks about prior years, because that’s not what the subject is about, so your comment to me is way off base.

I’ll go ahead and talk about your comment though. What GT has done is no different than about 80 percent of college football teams. I guess you want to be in that rare 20 percent, but I realize that’s not realistic. I also realize that GT has a bunch of factors that doesnt help out the program and changing coaches isn’t going to magically change that. The issue with this argument of the past 4 years is this, CPJ has not magically forgotten how to coach and we have drastically fallen behind in resources. Look back, as teams passed us in resources we started to have some losing seasons. Although 2015 was majorly from injuries, but that’s a discussion that’s irrelevant to be honest. I think people need to realize what other programs are doing and compare GT to that, not compare GT to their own wants. And before you say over the past 4 years most teams don’t have losing seasons you have to look at the full picture that most teams have had the big up and downs and could end up having seasons like that even if they are doing well now because that’s just how football goes if your not in that 20 percent. It’s just a cycle that happens. FSU and Louisville are doing what I’m talking about right now. Penn state has drastically dropped off this year and Miami, it’s just part of football. Of course I want GT to be more consistent but I understand it goes beyond CPJ for that to happen and that it’s part of football as a whole when you look around college football. That’s not me condoning it, but thats me being understanding of how it works/happens. We obviously have different options about this but I’d like to know what your exspectations are for GT football? And I ask that seriously.

Don’t forget that glorious blue field of Boise!
Hey! That was a great game and our players - most of whom had never even seen snow before - had a great time. And if the Lord is kind to us, he'll send us another back like P. J. Daniels. (I used to yell at PJ to run away from defenders; he'd break the LOS then actually start looking for somebody to run over.) He would have been the baddest BB in Tech history; as good as the Real Adrian Peterson.

Oops. Sorry, he already did and we fired him.

Those aren’t 4 full years. Speak better English next time.

Lol. I love the insults. So cute. I would try a clever rebuttal but don’t have one right off.

Now that it is clear the time frame I’m referring too, I’m sure you see it my way and I can count on you to support change at the head coaching position moving forward. Go jackets.

The last 4 years Gailey had were better than these last 4 years of Johnson. And at least with Gailey we had recruiting trending in the right direction.
So recruiting hasn’t gotten better the last 2 years? Have you not seen that the freshman and sophomore have actually been playing better than the upper class guys? Also how many times did Gailey win an orange bowl, or beat UGA? Let’s also not forget how much easier of a schedule Gailey has. I’d take the high years to go along with that bad that we have with CPJ over the average years of Gailey.
