What gets CPJ fired or encouraged to resign?

Wonder if CPJ would jump at the chance to coach at Purdue when Brohm leaves.

No, seriously, stop snickering. Or would the overwhelming number of fictitious P5 offers make him consider elsewhere?

I could see CPJ coaching at Appalachian State if Coach Satterfield goes to North Carolina or GT
If CPJ were available and willing, I wonder if Kansas would give him a shot. I think a run centric offense would prove successful in the Big 12 where most of the defenses are built to handle pass heavy teams (and it's not like anyone in the Big 12 fields a defense, so CPJ's biggest shortcoming will be overlooked;)).

CPJ would be the best coach Kansas has had since Mark Mangino, the Jayhawks could do a lot worse:cigar:

If we lose Thursday night which will all but put the nails in the coffin to our bowl hopes, I’d be fine if they fire CPJ after the game instead of waiting until after the season and thinking to much about it. Go ahead let him go and start going through names now

That's absolutely not going to happen. We might lose, but they are not firing CPJ mid-season, and likely not after the season.

And I do recognize what CPJ has done for the program and been very loyal and taught the guys well. He has a good run and I’d much rather us beat VT and at least one more, but the chances of us making a bowl are slim. If he can pull out a couple more wins it would be great to see him finish the season and retire so he doesn’t have to be let go but if we fall to VT I think they should think about making it happen right after. The program isn’t going up from here. The school knows, fans know, current players, recruits, and CPJ and he doesn’t seem to be having fun not interested anymore. I think his time as run out and it’s time to part ways. Maybe come to a negotiated leave

CPJ is not going anywhere. First, no way TStan makes him suffer the fate of being publicly fired. Besides, he has already said the reason for the contract extension was to assist in a transition to a new coach over the next several years. I wouldn't be surprised to see TStan keep him on not as a coach, but as a Special Employee in the GTAA.

As to CPJ coaching elsewhere, he's stated several times that Tech is his last stop. I fully expect him to retire rather than go to another program.

CPJ has stated numerous times that he will leave if he isn't getting the job done. I do not think firing will ever be necessary.

I also think he will be around next year because I think the team will respond this year. But, we will see. We need some wins and Thursday is a key game.

Why is he still here?
And we keep saying we need wins and we keep moving the goal post on when they are going to start happening.

“Stansbury also noted that, despite the strength of Tech’s schedule – Tech played two of the four teams in the College Football Playoff (Clemson and Georgia) as well as 10-win Miami and nine-win Virginia Tech – “you could look at it and say we’re three plays away from playing for another ACC championship,” he said.”

Translation, we lost to Clempson, UGlyA, Miami, and Virgina Tech.

There have only been 16 coaches fired mid-season in FBS in the last decade (resignations like McElwain and Tommy Bowden are included). It's not going to happen and it's a bad look. It makes it harder to attract coaches if you do a guy dirty like that. Ask LSU and USC fans why blue bloods like those programs had to settle for retreads like Orgeron and Sark.
