No one out for VT, TM will start

I'm suggesting the possibility that his answer might have been intended not just to leave the question unanswered, but to mislead the opposition into thinking TaQuon is going to start when actually he isn't. We'll find out.
If he did that then it is easy to see why Johnson has no credibility.

C’mon man. Seriously? Why should he have tipped his hand? If you’re playing poker and you get three Aces on the flop, do you tell your opponents what you’re holding? If you do, PM me because I’d like to play some poker with you.

Now, you come on. You managed to miss, or evade more likely, the point altogether. I did not suggest he should "tip his hand". He should not lie to the media and try to use it as his personal propaganda tool. When he does, he loses his credibility. Period. There are all kinds of ways to handle those things, most of which he has used before. But when Johnson gets his churlish mood on, look out.

He didn't lie. He never said TQM would start. He simply allowed people to make an inaccurate inference. But he did not lie.

Nor did my original post say he did. The response was to a post suggesting it was perfectly ethical to do so. But I do believe his response was more in the nature of strongly suggesting he would.

You inferred that. His only actual response to the question was, "I don't know". :sneaky:

This is correct.

Ken Seguira was the ***hole in this case. He apparently had some inside information from practice (or lack thereof in TMs case). Instead of actually stating, "Since TM isn't practicing this week" or "I heard TM didn't practice this week" he tried to be real sneaky about it when asking his questions about who is starting. Be a man and grow some testicles - either state the question and say what your sources are telling you or don't ask the question in the first place.

He knows how CPJ feels about disclosing injuries and about giving the opponent any advantage with regards to prep. And so his line of questioning to me came off as weasel-ish, sabotagish, and pick any other adjective you want that I don't want to type here.

And you know this exactly ... how?

Know what - what I said? Because I watched the pre-game press conference where Ken asked this question. Is that what you mean? Its on video.
thus you infer he had inside information. Possible, given that this is the reporter Johnson once insisted had to get his GT stories from him, officially. But more likely inbred skepticism dealing with Johnson.

I think given the way he asked the question and with follow-up questions on the same subject, that it safe to say he knew TaQuon had not been practicing.

Also, I often ask a question I know the answer to in order to get the responsible person to go on record. And sometimes what I think I "knew" wasn't right due to misinformation or faulty assumptions. If it's important, you ask. CPJ doesn't have to answer in a snarky way, only say that he doesn't talk about injuries other than what is published. And say that is what other coaches do.

If I were CPJ, I'd probably want to be very snarky after 11 years of the same questions. But I would hope that I'd just stay neutral and move on.

I mean, in looking at the facts we have, and making a few logical assumptions it seems to be that some of us need to, as the kids say, chigity check ourselves before we rigity wreck ourselves.

FACT - we now know TQM wasn’t practicing

FACT - coach had a plan to use TO as the starter or at the very least HEAVILY in the game

FACT - the •LOCAL BEAT WRITER• for us was asking about injury status and game planning ahead of the game

FACT - coach is on record as saying many times to this writer as well as generally he doesn’t want to give away potentially game outcome affecting information on pregame interviews

FACT - coach is exceptionally candid about answers in post game interviews

FACT - knowing which qb to prepare for definitively improves the opposition’s ability to scheme against us

FACT - coach closed practices and has limited interviews of staff and players because our local media publishes information he is trying to keep close to the chest

ASSUMPTION - it is likely Ken had inside information that TQM hadn’t been practicing

ASSUMPTION - coach didn’t want to make that known to Fuentes / Foster for obvious reasons

ASSUMPTION - Ken posted his article anyways, and likely knowing that coach would be displeased

ASSUMPTION - Ken is a poopoo head (tic) but seriously. We have a lot of threads and posts about how coach should handle the media; we should talk similarly about how the media should handle our program. If you’re not onboard with helping us win, fine, but don’t go out of your way to publish inside information during prep week for our opponents and expect to be welcomed into the fold and be given inside information.

Generally we have seen that journalistic integrity has been lost for want of clicks and clickbait stories. That’s part of the reason I was so happy to subscribe to the athletic. I’m just disappointed in Ken’s judgement to post the story ahead of the game and have no issue with Coach’s answer. Further to suggest he was unethical in his handling of the response by implying or suggesting deception is a joke. That’s like saying you shouldn’t disguise coverage as a defense because it’s cheating.

That would be one hell of a decision engine. Bashing coaches can get creative.

For instance

I hate how paul johnson always leads the lead in rushing. is positive.

I love how paul johnson can't seem to recruit a nfl caliber defensive tackle. Is negative. good luck with sarcasm in AI.

You are approaching it from the wrong angle to begin with. Step one, ID the coach haters. Step two, all of their posts get flagged by bot. Step 3, all posts that get likes from coach hater accts get flagged.

This is like 50% job complete now...I won’t even ask for any royalties. :D
