I heard of a man who brings innovation, discipline, and most importantly execution! He’s a local guy named Ceff Gollins. Should be able to recruit well as he sells an intense brand.

I’m sure we’ll find a good replacement. Just hope it doesn’t negatively impact our roster/personnel too much.

Edit: I dunno, just spit balling. Is this something Jess Simpson is ready for/wants to do? Seems energetic and the kids like him. Bring in another DT coach, hopefully with a couple DTs.
He was a CODC 2022 at Duke and AHC and DT in 2023
Jess Simpson?
would not surprise me knows the players and the players know him

I’m hoping we give Shiel Wood a serious look. Was a safeties/ST coach here in 2018 and is currently the DC at Texas Tech. He’s moved around a lot but I think he will be one of the top candidates for a lot of programs that are looking for a DC. Looks like he just took the job with them a couple months ago but these days, anything goes.

Apparently Santucci had an NFL dream. I think we're a desirable spot, and we'll get someone good

Chad Bishop seems to have broken the news, is well informed, and it's optimistic about us getting a good replacement. It seems like we're a good place to work
In my out-of-the-know opinion, I agree with them. Key has been hiring people on their way up the ladder. I get the impression that he brings them in to help GT win, and to help them develop for their next rung up the ladder. Bud Foster was a DC for 24 years. I don't think Santucci would have been happy as a DC for 24 years. I don't think Faulkner would be happy as an OC for 24 years. I think it is likely that he will be a HC within a few years.

There were advantages to having Foster at that position for 24 years. There were advantages for Clemson having Venables as DC for 10 years. On the other hand, there are advantages to giving guys who want to work very hard to prove themselves and make it to the next level that opportunity, and the support they need. I think it makes the GT coaching positions very desirable for guys who want to prove themselves and move up in their career.

Key also seems to be copying Saban with brining in off the field staff who are in waiting patterns. I don't think Bohanan will have to wait very long for other opportunities. While he is waiting for the next big opportunity, he can add value to GT, and use GT as a vehicle to maintain and improve his credentials.

I think it is short sighted for GT fans to bemoan the loss of a good coach. The way I see it, GT is becoming a very attractive destination for coaches who are extremely motivated and want an opportunity to prove themselves for even higher positions.

Thanks Coach Santucci, great job. We sure wish you were staying longer but the whims of hiring and firing HC's, DC's and OC's and the economics of college and pro football create annual opportunities for professional enhancement and usually salaries. I sure hope our OC doesn't follow suit but it is a question of when, not if.
To Coach Key and AD Batt, let's find a DC keeper for awhile. Go Jackets.

Most of my concern is he was here one year, not long enough to make a lasting impact. Now we get our 4 DC in 3 years. Thats very hard on players as schemes and preparation change with each change.

Having a very good assistant for 3+ years and them moving up is fine. One year and gone is bad.

IIRC, Saban had this type of thing happen often. And yet year after year the wins kept on rolling out….

Maybe it’s not as bad as you make it out to be. I’m hoping that’s the case….

I seem to recall Saban averaged 20-30 more assistants than Tech has had in its best years. It’s not like he had a string of one and done year after year either. Just completely different programs. Saban could absorb losing an assistant so much easier.
