My mistake in nomenclature. I meant of course we predominantly play 5 DBs and 2 LBs.Our base is a 4-2 (nickel). The missing LB plays nickel for us, a hybrid safety/linebacker. A 5-2 would be 5 down linemen and 2 linebackers, still 4 DBs.
Hurry get every recruit to GT as fast as possible
33,yeah but to state this is the deepest 2 deep TEAM in pauls tenure is a bit much IMO. I dont' think it is the case. I think the reason alone that many backups have yet to play a real snap is enough to doubt that. We have super youth across the board; for me the deepest team is not only a good starting 22, but backing up the starting 22 another 10-15 players at are RS Soph and RS Jr that have played a ton and are good players. Our guys may be good, or end up being good, but by golly they are so young I am not sure you can state that for this year....
I felt like our 2014 team was deeper
and our 2009 team
Play of the Day:
Sophomore defensive back A.J. Gray highlighted a strong showing by Georgia Tech's defense on Sunday when he made a spectacular diving interception during seven-on-seven drills midway through practice. Later in the same seven-on-seven period, Gray displayed great athleticism when he leapt in front of another throw but settled for a pass breakup when he wasn't able to pull down a second acrobatic INT.
Good to hear about AJ. Poor coverage by GT. If they're not going to allow press to cover camp, they need to do a helluva lot better job of it. It's almost like they don't care. They might as well not even have a page if that's all they're gonna have.Sunday's practice report is up and guess who made the play(s) of the day

As far as depth goes, we will know by the end of the year, barring injuries. I thought 2014 was better, but going into the season, I had questions about Laskey, Days, Byerly, Perkins, and a whole bunch more.
Yes. Remember, 2014 was the year of the great DL attrition. We lost a lot of players before the year started and many - including me - were worried as a result. Turned out that was a baseless fear. Hope it's the same this year.If everyone is being honest with themselves, we had far greater concerns about offensive depth going into that 2014 season than we do now. None of our ABs/BBs were proven studs going in, and SD wasn't even sure about his position. Our current backs are young, certainly, but guys like MM, CL, QS have all shown just as much potential as the guys who ended up breaking out in '14. I'm optimistic (about OFFENSIVE depth, at least).
