It is a question of maturity. This is (unfortunately) something that is hard to expedite, but must be learned by everyone. Mills didn't do anything a lot of other kids have not done, but he is in the limelight a lot more than other kids. This is just like a bad play... learn from it, move on, and do better next time.

Not saying it's not somewhere else, but this policy doesn't state anything like a mandated sports suspension, much less a three strikes rule:

"A Respondent who is found responsible must be given one of the four (4) Sanctions, listed in Section E1 in ascending order of severity. The Respondent may also be subject to one or more Supplementary Requirements. There is no requirement that a Student receive less severe sanctions before more severe sanctions; some conduct may warrant immediate expulsion."

It's like dating a super hot chick. You're willing to put up with a little more crazy if she can make every other dude look bad when you walk in with her on your arm.

If I recall correctly, didn't Lynn Griffin have troubles during his first year, and then he got help from some of his senior teammates? Is Lynn still around the team in any capacity to where he can help guide and mentor Dedrick?

I hope he wakes up. If not he will find himself playing for someone like Jacksonville State next season with the rest of the cast offs who just don't get it.

Some just can't see the damage they do to themselves when they can't think past the "moment", hang with the wrong crowd, etc. To risk a 100% paid for college education for a few minutes of buzz... SMDH

I think GT is a LOT better about keeping an SA's transgressions behind closed doors than most schools. As fans we're curious, but we have to understand that most SAs still need to find a job after their playing days. No need put something out there could hurt an SAs professional prospects outside of athletics. If it wasn't for Darren Waller publicly stating that he got suspended for weed during the draft run up, GT fans would still be speculating with "insider" info why he was suspended during the 2014 season.

But in Mills' case, they aren't putting up with it. It seems to me sometimes that the more talented a player is the more likely he is to get in trouble.

Well, That's kind of what I was saying. The more talented a guy is, the more people have been willing to put up with his BS his entire life. The best guy on the team gets more leeway, right up until they don't.

My brother had this dude on his youth league teams who was IMPOSSIBLY talented. He was like Amani Toomer's kid, or nephew or something, named Rasheem. Every year, he was good, but every year, he was yelling at the coaches, or pouting, or some BS. Nobody ever checked him because he was sooooo good. Well, he learned that behavior, and now he's in the klink.
