Coaches cannot fully prevent athletes like Lunt from transferring to any university they want. But if a coach does not grant an athlete a release, the player must forfeit any scholarship opportunity, pay his own way to the new university and sit out the next season.

So perhaps it's in the granting of the release? It also reads as if there is some tie between the school and the student in addition to the NLI. That's the piece I'm still stuck on understanding.

It is also important to note that the agreement encompasses a full academic year and not only the athletic season.

Well, Fields is from Kennesaw, just up the road from GT. He can transfer to GT if Coach Collins wants him.

One question regarding Fields, however: Can he cut it academically?

We will see what happens soon enough, I guess.

Considering he was recruited by Yale, Harvard, northwestern and other solid schools, I don’t see academics being a problem.

He says he wants to go into finanacial planning so GT would be an upgrade since Scheller >>> Terry

Don't want him, don't need him. We got two guys that can play and that kid who just won the state championship looks like a baller. We don't need some guy looking for his shot at the NFL. Although he could come to Tech and be on the Punt team as a blocker........

I don't think we'll be an option for him. I imagine he'd try to get immediate eligibility to come in and lead a ready-made team. We'll be in a state of adjustment. Not an easy path, not an easy fit.
