Coastal Chaos

Everyone should be rooting for BC the next two weeks... They already helped us out on Friday. They control their own destiny in the Atlantic just as much as Clemson. It’d be a huge help if they can beat VT this week and then of course, if they could beat Clemson, it’d greatly enhance the chances of whoever represents the coastal in the ACCCG (though BC has to play Syracuse in the last week of the season which could be tough).

I want another shot.

100% This. I want to book travel to Charlotte and I would have no apologies about doing so if we had to beat out five other teams via tiebreakers.

The only 2 teams who lost by a smaller amount than we did this year are both ranked. No other team in the entire country has had as much success against Clemson over the last 10 years.

Unfortunately Clemson QB is too good for our secondary to stop. They have a good OL and the kid is a really good passer. We aren't there yet to compete at that level.

Well I agree, but lets see what happens when we get there. Football is a brutal game as Lawrence has already found out. He may not even be there come ACCCG, or he could be beat up, or some of his team mates could be. You just never know.

Current Coastal Division Standings:
Virginia: 4-1
Pittsburgh: 3-1
Virginia Tech: 3-1
Miami: 2-2
Georgia Tech: 2-3
Duke: 1-3
UNC: 1-4

Since Pitt came from behind miraculously and beat Duke by scoring 4 times in the 4th quarter, the odds of us making the ACCCG are getting smaller.

Assumption: We win out @UNC, vs Miami, vs Virginia

Virginia: Pitt, @GT, @VT
* Virginia can beat Pitt, then lose out and we'd have head-to-head.
* Virginia could lose to Pitt, then beat VT and we'd have head-to-head.

Pitt: @Virginia, VT, @Wake, @Miami
* Pitt needs to lose 3 more since they have the head-to-head against us. Virginia has a terrible record against VT, its @VT this year, and we have to win out anyway...so I'm hoping Pitt loses to Virginia. We can't expect them to lose all 3 of their final 3 games.

VT: Boston College, @Pitt, Miami, Virginia
* VT needs to lose 2 more. Might as well get started this week against BC. We will probably need them to beat @Pitt no matter what. So if they beat BC, that would mean we would need them to lose both of their final 2 games against Miami and Virginia. And if they lose to Virginia, that would only work if Virginia loses to Pitt. Conclusion - VT needs to lose to BC this week so they can be free to beat Pitt and Virginia.

Miami: Duke, @GT, @VT, Pitt
* Miami needs to lose to us and then we have head-to-head.
* So, having said that, we might as well have them beat Duke this week since Duke needs to lose 1 more (see next section)...then Miami can be free to win @VT and Pitt.

Duke: @Miami, UNC, @Clemson, Wake
* Duke is doing its usual thing of convincing everyone somehow that they are a good team and Cutcliffe is a decent coach while they also go 2-6 in ACC play every year.
* Duke can lose @Miami this week to give them loss 4, or they can lose @Clemson. Or UNC. Or Wake. Duke sucks.

UNC: Georgia Tech, @Duke, NC State
* We have to beat them. They're toast either way.

=> The needle to thread is Virginia against Pitt this week and then VT plays both later. We need a circular firing squad there.

This is starting to feel like 2012 again. Lol. Unfortunately Uncheat or Da U won’t be going on probation for us to back door our way in but the way everything is unfolding we might just end up in Charlotte after we were dead in the water like 2012.

If Pitt loses two game and WF is not one of the two we MAY still be ok IF it’s a three way tie. They would have one more coastal division (meaning they are 2-0 against the Atlantic where we are 1-1 against the Atlantic) loss then us and would be eliminated and then it goes back to a two team tie breaker against a team that we have the head to head against.

Maybe UVa will win the division but admit to abandoning Zima and accept a voluntary postseason ban as a result?

What if the chaos happens and we DON’T have to play Clemson? Call me crazy, but BC is pretty good and if they were to win their next four, they win the Atlantic. Clemson plays up there during that stretch...you never know.

Sometimes it’s just easier to pull for teams you like more. We get what we earn. And we dug too deep of a hole here early. Winning out is very possible, but also not the most likely outcome this year.

Of all the teams in the coastal though. I think we have the best shot to beat Clemson in Charlotte.

UVA may have the best defense to combat Clemson with, could be an interesting game, and if they finally beat VT in Blacksburg they will be riding high

In true ACC circle of suck fashion you can probably count on them to lose at VT this weekend lol

VT had a bad game against us. We don't make the 4th down on the second drive and the game could turn out like Pitt if we have the turnover rather than VT. Emotion and momentum are what make CFB fun. I'd much rather be 4-1 in the ACC than 2-3.

UVa, VT and Pitt control their Coastal destinies. I think one of them ends up winning.

Atomic has VT as a one point favorite, 28-27. Helps it's at VT but it's a coin toss as to who wins.

One thing I just noticed; VT is only getting 11 games this year and needs to win 2 of the next 4 to be bowl eligible.........
