If you'd told me there would be 3 close games & a blowout in this series, I would have bet a lot it would go 2-2. Nats win in a blowout & only 1 close one. You guys should feel really good about the Braves. They deserved 3 of 4. Nationals had chances in every game... but did not do enough to make plays when needed.

If I were a Braves fan, I would want the playoffs to start tomorrow. I sense they are peaking... maybe a better way to say it is you're seeing the ceiling. No phase (starting pitching, offense, defense, bullpen, manager) is underperforming right now ...& that's how you win 80% of your games over last few weeks.

I had to follow most action this weekend online (stats) as I was traveling... the BEST thing out of the weekend (besides A.Barrett's return) has to be Scherzer taking care of business in a "stop the bleeding" series finale today. Good rehearsal for the wildcard start he's definitely going to get IF Nats manage to make that game. Today's results nearly all went in Nationals favor. (y)

It was a forfeit once realized that the three relievers used are not going to be on any postseason roster. True that the Atlanta starter gave up 4 runs in 6 innings, which was not credited as a quality start. However, in retrospect of a 9-4 final it’s quite easy to play what if, should the regular late guys appear in the last 3 frames for a potential hold.

To Fred:
We as fans don’t want the season to end yet. Kakes and Inciarte are 2/3 of our outfield. Yes, I think Ender starts the playoffs over Riley, Duvall, Hamilton, Ortega, Joyce(he makes us stronger from the bench).

Nah, we're not peaking. Half the 2/3 of the outfield's hurt and the other half of the 1/3 is in a slump.

How many of you engineers can follow that math?

Lastly, and I'll take the sling and arrows but, can we end the Riley experiment already? Whatever he had has been lost. Hopefully temporarily.

Could happen this week.

Magic number is 6 for playoffs. Right now, any combo. of Braves wins, Cubs losses.
Magic number is 11 for Eastern Division. Combo. of Braves wins, Nats. losses.

@Milwaukee, they asked me. Don’t chastise the researcher. :cautious:
