I could see them trying to get Grandal and if that falls through, running with Flowers and another vet on a one year deal.

If Posey hadn't declined so dramatically, I would check in on him since they have Joey Bart in the pipeline but Posey's salary is too much for the Braves with his production. He's making Josh Donaldson money for three more years.

I'd like the Braves try to get Jonathan Lucroy if Yasmani Grandal didn't go through

When I think of Molina, and compare Lucroy(right now, 2019 season), I’d rather overpay for Grandal. Supply and demand. So if Milwaukee buys him out, he will get Josh Donaldson money for 1 year or a huge multi-year jackpot. I believe Yasmani turned the Mets(?)down on a 4 year deal for 60m. last Winter.

I keep Inciarte. My starting OF is Acuna, Inciarte, and Markakis/Riley. Re-sign Donaldson to a 3 year $70 million deal and then sign Grandal to something similar, maybe 3 years $60 million. We have a lot of money to spend, so I would also like to sign Will Smith to something like 3 years $30 million or 4 and $40 and Bumgarner to a 4 year deal. The rotation could be something like Soroka, Bumgarner, Fried, Folty and Wright/Wilson/trade for a controllable starter. The core of the pen would be Newk, Webb, Greene, Smith, and Melancon.

Lineup would be Acuna, Albies, Freeman, Donaldson, Grandal, Swanson, Markakis/Riley, and Inciarte.

He has a mutual option with Milwuakee, so they both have to agree.

    Yan Gomes:
    2020: $9 million club option
    2021: $11 million club option

Lucroy will be 34. Only hit .232 w/ 8 HR, 36 RBI. Regarded now as below avg. defensively.

    Martin will be 37.

    Chirinos is 36 in 2020.

Yan Gomes can hit but he's got a weak arm. I have a feeling AA wouldn't be interested in someone 36 or 37.

Fred, do you think Washington picks up the option on Gomes? I know you’re getting ready for the game tonight. Flip the Cards, I’m shooting a birdie at them right now!

Yan Gomes would be a good catcher for the Braves to have until the young catchers on the farm would be ready:cigar:

I don't know. Suzuki seemed to be the man this year. Developed as the "mate" in battery for the top end starters. Better offensively... than Gomes. The Gomes/Suzuki catcher position was a significant upgrade from 2018. Hate to say that about Wieters... but it was.

The value of the qualifying offer will be set at $17.8MM for the coming winter, per Jayson Stark of The Athletic (via Twitter). That’s down by $100K from last year’s mark of $17.9MM.

Do we need to start a new Braves thread labeled 2020 Atlanta Braves?
I’m sure the Mods. wouldn’t mind since this current one is at 506 pages?
