All right then, to elucidate: it is my firm belief that based on firm logic, the MSM, which would include CNN and AJC, is committed to stoking the fires of China virus hysteria so as to keep the US economy shut down until approximately the first week of November. I choose not to participate.
You claim firm logic. Seems more like paranoia to me. This isn’t going to be gone by November.

I dont want to participate in any back and forth or politics. I have known two 40'ish year olds who have gotten very ill, one spent two weeks in icu. The media didn't put him there, the virus did. Its not the end of civilization, but its a big deal. I desperately want my kids back in school and I want football, but we need a better plan than burying our heads in the sand.

its been awhile but i'm an experienced parent and i know what a diaper load smells like.please take a break from the panic porn.

Run away, run away! We're all going to die, we're all going to die!!!

It's definitely not panic porn, just accurate numbers giving a sense of where we are today (not where we have to be tomorrow).

It's also not run away we're going to die - just the opposite, i'd like to run towards it and deal with it head on. Unfortunately we have had too many leaders at the Federal, State and local level who have run away from it and tried to pretend it would just disappear on its own rather than dealing with it and making it go away. That has caused our current situation where most countries are becoming less restrictive and we are getting more restrictive.

I'm not panicked, i'm disappointed about how many more Americans are going to have to die because we don't want to deal with this in an intelligent and strategic manner.

Deaths have increased significantly this week - that is simply a fact. It doesn't mean we are going to have the same daily death totals as we did in late March/April - the lower infection mortality rate should help with that. But they are likely to rise for at least the next few weeks as they represent a 4-5 week lag from what has occurred.
Hospitalizations have increased by huge amounts and are now at their highest point since May 2. That is simply a fact. And they will get worse before it gets better as the hospitalizations won't decrease until the cases and positive case rate decrease.

We should be looking at what has happened elsewhere around the world- this isn't a US problem, its a world wide problem. We need to look at what best practices have worked and then have a strategic plan for which of those best practices makes sense for the US. Then we need to implement those plans and measure the results. And then make changes if some of those strategies don't work until we get ahead of this virus.

If people are posting inaccurate info then I may choose to correct that info. The more accurate information we have the better decisions we can make, the fewer lives we have to lose, and the quicker we get our economy going again and get to a new normal.

There is a thread in the lounge for all of the arguments about COVID. It is difficult to find comments about football scheduling since those arguments are pretty much taking over this thread.

I do not wear a mask. I will not patronize businesses that require a mask. I like in Albany, Georgia one of the original hotspots. The death rate from this virus is less than 1%. I asked a hospital administrator and one of the most respected physicians in our area what are the odds of a person under the age of 50 reasonably healthy and without comorbidities dying from COVID? He said it was about 1 in 10,000,000. He believes that it has mutated into a less lethal but still highly contagious form. There is no reason to have shut the economy down and put millions of people out of work, tens of thousands of small businesses failed when it would have been smarter to direct resources to the most vulnerable: the elderly and those with comorbidities. "Those who would trade a little freedom for a little safety will end up with neither liberty nor safety" Thomas Jefferson
If wearing a mask is your oppression, then you should be grateful. You know you can spread the virus without symptoms right? People like you are the reason this country is blowing up. I have friends that live in other countries that are required to wear masks and their numbers are declining rapidly.

My boss’ son died from Covid last weekend. He was 24. We got sent home and tested for Covid for the week. This virus is very real especially when it hits close to home. I live in Augusta. Quit pretending we’re being oppressed by wearing a mask. Y’all are ridiculous.

Look I'll be honest and tell you what I know about the virus.

That is right I don't know anything. I can read ( if the words aren't too big) I can talk to experts , and guess what they all have different opinions. Believe what you want that is the American way , but don't call anyone dumb cause they don't believe what you do. ( unless they tell you uga fans are good people)

Where is the paranoia now? So it's going to last to what? A vaccination? To perpetuity?
Probably at least another year and that has nothing go do with the elections and assumes a vaccine or vaccines at some point. The paranoia I was referencing is that this is something that the media or politics is responsible for. It’s virus and we still are figuring it out. The noise and politics around it are making it harder to find a rational way to live with it.

Honestly, if I was on the team I would feel like the university is putting my health at risk for their own gain. This feels pretty irresponsible to force these kids back to campus right now. I dunno.

You know it doesn't do a damn bit of good right? A boy down the street from me was 18 years old and died of COVID. He had sickle cell anemia so while tragic, it was understandable. You are ridiculous for trying to virtue signal this masking nonsense. The country is blowing up in spite of people like me who pay taxes, work for a living and obey the laws.

The number testing positive have gone up because many thousands more a day are being tested. Number of hospitalizations have not gone up appreciably and I think, according to what I've heard, deaths have not gone up at all.

Blatantly false.

Emory hospitalizations for COVID-19 are up about 3.5x from 1 month ago. At an all-time high overall, 25% higher than previous peak in April. I'd give you specific numbers but I don't know if the data is meant to be public.
