ACC to play 10-game conference-only schedule for the 2020 season.

I'm fine with ND not playing any ACC opponents this year.

Maybe one of the few good things to come out of COVID.

Now if they pay $5,000,000 a game for each ACC opponent, I could be persuaded. But not $4,000,000 a game.

Let them lay in the bed they made.

The ACC totally bailed out ND. Every conference told ND to poop or get off the pot...they stayed on the pot and the ACC decided to roll ND's toilet into the ACC and let them poop all over us. All the ACC let ND do was let them have their cake and eat it. You literally can not find a better deal than what ND is getting...their own TV football contract, and a conference to bail out their other sports as well as sharing non-football revenue with them.

This is almost 100% inaccurate.
As of tonight here are the US numbers (some of the states numbers are considerably worse than these)
Between 75-90% of the increase in cases is due to increased spread, not increased testing.
Since June 10th, 7 day avg cases have increased 171%, 7 day avg testing has increased 43%. The 7 day avg positive test rate has increased from 4.3% to 8.4%. (if spread was due to increased testing the positive test % would stay the same or decrease)

Hospitalizations are up 86% since June 21. The current trend is the most vertical the line has been since hospital tracking started.

In the last 3 days the 7 day avg death rate has increased 16% (from a 7 day avg of 525 to a 7 day avg of 614).
The death toll the last 4 days is the highest 4 day total since June 2-5. The death toll bottomed out last week, between Jun 30-Jul 3) and in the last 4 days has started a quick increase - much higher increase rate than the models were projecting a week ago.

We can end this social experiment and go about our lives like before as long as we are willing to accept the deaths of hundreds of thousands of American citizens between now and the end of the year and the cratering of the economy. If the deaths flattened to the number that have been reported the last 4 days you would be looking at over 150,000 additional deaths by Dec 31st.

FWIW, the state of GA announced this afternoon that they are converting part of the Georgia World Congress Center into a hospital for COVID patients

Even if they don't try to "skirt" the rules, many FCS or G5 schools and conferences likely don't have the financial resources to conduct testing to the levels that the ACC, SEC, B1G, etc. have. So a much greater risk playing those teams. A game like GT vs. UGA at the end of the season though, a lot less risk, unless you're UGA trying to stay healthy for a run in the playoff.

I don't think there will be any playoffs of any kind this football season. Probably no bowl games either. There is talk of an all conference ten game season but I don't know if they will even be able to do that. Football both college and professional (I know in the SEC its pretty much the same) is about to find out how the other half lives. They may not be as important to people as they think.

It could backfire, if they end up in the Big 10 instead of the ACC. Of course, some wouldn't mind that. The only thing I have against Notre Dame is the same thing I have against Louisville - they aren't in a state that borders the Atlantic.

My beef with Notre Dame is the “our s*** don’t stink” attitude.

One of my best friends just tested positive today in ATL and he’s a big guy with past medical issues. His sisters boyfriend, who was also one of my best friends, died of a heart attack due to the stress of CV at the beginning of the outbreak. He had been really agitated, worried and had somewhat obsessed over it. This guy (Andy Pittman) burnt the candles at both ends, if you know what I mean BUT it still contributed to his death.

Guess what? We couldn’t have a funeral.

There’s a reason for the panic porn moron. This **** is still spreading.

Go tell Addison who’s BF just died and her brother may be on the chopping block it’s no big deal.

Also, heard from another buddy, who’s wife is a nurse that her ward at a hospital in ATL is being taken over for covid patients. Can’t remember exact quote but she said it’s not good.

There’s a senator in NC who is sending out either daily or weekly progress reports to his constituents on how they are doing, tracking, testing, etc. He’s a Republican. I’d vote for him 1000 times over anyone of any political party who is saying don’t wear a mask and let’s put kids and teachers in harms way.

Oh yeah. I forgot to tell you. Addisons a teacher...

I looked for Andy’s obit but couldn’t find one. He was definitely one of my best friends

For very obese people and older people this disease is absolutely a big deal. It’s like 5x more contagious than the flu and micro targets the vulnerable. The challenge we’re all having is that for the high majority of Americans it isn’t a big deal *for them* and we’re a selfish country.

If the ACC goes to a 10 game schedule they should allow schools with SEC rivalary games to keep those along with ND.

I am very skeptical. No school want a to be the first where there is an outbreak in the athletic program and coaches or players get hospitalized or even die. Some of these players have conditions like diabetes that makes them more vulnerable. Staff members are even more vulnerable considering age and other medical conditions that typically come with getting older. I was hopeful for a season about a month ago but I believe cancelling games is the first step to cancelling the season altogether.

I do not wear a mask. I will not patronize businesses that require a mask. I like in Albany, Georgia one of the original hotspots. The death rate from this virus is less than 1%. I asked a hospital administrator and one of the most respected physicians in our area what are the odds of a person under the age of 50 reasonably healthy and without comorbidities dying from COVID? He said it was about 1 in 10,000,000. He believes that it has mutated into a less lethal but still highly contagious form. There is no reason to have shut the economy down and put millions of people out of work, tens of thousands of small businesses failed when it would have been smarter to direct resources to the most vulnerable: the elderly and those with comorbidities. I thought Tech grads were suppose to be data minded and logical. Someone refutes your comment with statistics and facts, and this is what you come back with? This level of response is something I would expect from a uGA fan.

Only he doesn't quote CDC, the only source that I have seen that is reliable. Most of the other sources spin the data. An example is that most states report hospitalizations of people "with or under investigation for Covid-19." That is very different from the CDC's graph showing hospitalizations "attributable to" Covid-19, which yields much lower numbers. A Tech grad should question the data and validate it.

All right then, to elucidate: it is my firm belief that based on firm logic, the MSM, which would include CNN and AJC, is committed to stoking the fires of China virus hysteria so as to keep the US economy shut down until approximately the first week of November. I choose not to participate.

I have come up with a Proposed ACC 10 game schedule that also assist Notre Dame with them not forced to join the ACC.

First, I assumes that Notre Dame goes to a 10 game schedule & keeps Navy, and adds BYU. Also I keep current ACC schedule games and only needs to add 1 extra ACC team with a home and home (Miami is that team)!

Teams already schedule to face Notre Dame: (will not need a H&H)
Wake Forest
Pitt
Duke
Clemson
GT
Louisville

Single Games from Notre Dame Schedule fallout:
Clemson vs GT
Duke vs Pitt
Louisville vs Wake

Home & Home Schedules for teams schedule to play single games with ND
Duke-Clemson, Duke-GT, Duke-Louisville, Duke-Wake
GT-Duke, GT-Wake, GT-Louisville, GT-Pitt
Clemson-Duke, Clemson-Louisville, Clemson-Wake, Clemson-Pitt
Pitt-Clemson, Pitt-GT, Pitt-Wake, Pitt-Louisville
Louisville-Duke, Louisville-GT, Louisville-Pitt, Louisville-Clemson
Wake-Duke, Wake-GT, Wake-Pitt, Wake-Clemson

Team Added to Notre Dame schedule: Miami (Miami & ND will be H&H)
Miami-ND, Miami-FSU, Miami-BC, Miami-UNC, Miami-NC State

Rest of ACC H&H Schedules:
BC-Cuse, BC-VT, BC-UVA, BC-Miami, BC-NC State
Cuse-BC, Cuse-VT, Cuse-UVA, Cuse-UNC, Cuse-NC State
NC State-BC, NC State-Cuse, NC State-UNC, NC State-FSU, NC State-Miami
UNC- NC State, UNC-Cuse, UNC-FSU, UNC-Miami, UNC-UVA
VT-UVA, VT-BC, Cuse-VT, VT-UNC, VT-FSU
FSU-NC State, FSU-Miami, FSU-UNC, FSU-VT, FSU-UVA
UVA-VT, UVA-BC, Cuse-UVA, UNC-UVA, UVA-FSU

Final ACC 10 Game Schedule for 2020:
BC-Cuse, BC-VT, BC-UVA, BC-Miami, BC-NC State
Cuse-BC, Cuse-VT, Cuse-UVA, Cuse-UNC, Cuse-NC State
