So you don't buy their excuse that they play in the toughest div in college football and beat each other up every week?
LOL I had a coversation last night about that, one guy was a Tennessee fan the other a UGA fan. I said there is not a better 1 2 punch than fsu and Clemson the UGA fan agreed the Tennessee fan said that Alabama and Tennessee was a better 1 2 punch lol. If GT can get consistent and mark gets Miami on tract and the same happens with VT we could easily be considered one of the top conferences if not the best because we still would have good teams like the Tar Heels , and Louisville in the mid teir teams which imo those teams the already better than the mid teir teams in the sec.

Except the article that you linked to mainly discusses an "alternative" to a 9 conference game schedule.
Which would mean that David Teel's first report on ESPN wanting/requesting that the ACC FB move to a 9 game conf schedule for network inventory was true!!!

No. Smh. They have a deal in place w/out the move to 9 games. The "maybe" was correct. The push for more content was correct. Your interpretation/suggestion that it was anything more than that is wrong.

ESPN wants 9 games. Conference wants 8. Teams like Tech, Clem, FSU won't agree to 9 due to their perm ooc rivalry games. And tossing those rivalry games would be stupid for the schools, conference, AND espn.

I had forgotten that Tech plays Tennessee in 2017. I wonder if Tennessee has already begun preparing for Tech's offensive scheme?

That would kill many of the FCS athletic programs. Many of those programs are funded by the payouts these schools get from the FBS schools. Doubt that will ever happen.
Let the non power five teams play them. I lost all respect for the FCS teams when Delaware State forfeited a LEAGUE GAME in order to get crushed by U of Mich in order to receive the payday. Screw em.

Not only are you screwing Delaware State's football program, but theirs baseball team, men's and women's basketball teams, cross country teams, track & field teams, cheerleading, equestrian, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball teams. These schools rely on that "payday" to fund the school's sports program. You're entitled to your opinion (and I hate playing FCS games too), but they're not going away.

The only way what you say happens is ifthe P5 conferences form their own tier above the G5 BCS teams. There's been talk, but I doubt it happens.

If those programs are totally dependent on FBS - FCS match ups for their existence, then maybe they shouldn't exist. I am not a huge supporter of the argument that mismatches are necessary for the greater good. There is an integrity to sports and competition that comes before all else. It really does athletes engaged in such contests no good. There is nothing to be gained on either side for a slaughter to take place.

I disagree. It's great for smaller schools to have intercollegiate sports. It's great for bigger schools to have tune up games and games where down roster kids can play.

I agree with this. However, I think the P5 teams can get this from G5 leagues and FCS can get this from G5 teams. Unfortunately, the big payouts come from FCS teams playing upper level P5 teams.

The lower level G5 teams also using these tune-up games as fundraising for their programs since they don't have the huge TV contracts.
