I would think Dansby would have to be included in any deal for Lindor. Tribe would insist on him.
Realizing you would give up Riley as fast as you’d take the garbage out each night @kg01 , my question is are you ready to surrender 2 more of our top prospects?
Guessing they might want Ian Anderson and Kyle Mueller?

He’s more solid than Swanson, yes. Right up there with Baez, Story, Bogaerts, Turner and the elder statesman Simmons. Many consider him #1. DeLong of the Cards, is one I like for the future. Good value guy.

Fred, are you interested in Todd Frazier? You might get younger, ;)!

Prospects sound nice. Titles sound better.

I love Bringer of Rain but 4 yrs is an absolute disaster contract. And if we let Riley go we deserve the fate that follows. Josh has all the leverage right now (and I'm super happy for him...flex on them ho's and get yours, Josh), but let him use it on other clubs. Don't pay him a 4yr deal.

I don't mind it if management can front load the contract. Give him something like $32 million and $30 million for the first 2 years.

That does increase the path to the luxury tax. But nice if you have to deal him later on, because Riley turns into Mike Trout.

I'm trying to catch up in this thread but is @kg01 insinuating we get rid of Dansby?

I'm headed to the fridge for a glass of chilled riesling before I lose my temper.
To catch you up, we offered 4/104m. W/AAV @ 26m.(110 gets him signed).
@kg01 Not to rat him out, but he wants to trade Riley, Dansby, The Entire Farm and little old me. He won’t get much for the latter.

Just between you and me Buzz but that @kg01 is literally a certified lunatic. The guy doesn't even know where he woke up this morning. Keep this between us.

I will. He thinks I only follow WBB, and doesn’t consider it relevant. He did take his Daughter to a movie. I’ll find some good points to go with that in 2020:)

1. It's true I barely know where I woke up this morning but blame it on tha new, new, new, new, ne-, new, ne-, newborn (to Blame it on the Alcohol tune).
b. @Milwaukee I do want to trade Riley because I feel he's fool's gold and his value will only tank from here. I do not want to trade Dansberry, was only asking if it would be a good idea to pursue Lindor. Was asking if Lindor was that much better.
3. Trading @Buzzbomb would be one-a them 'better to trade 'im a year early than a year late' situations.

Good timing on trading me. My value is high. That’s what I pay the Shrink to say, anyway.
Now you want a WS title and the best SS, you will surrender Dans. because Cleveland has nobody to play there everyday.
I left out, a young OF they might want too. I don’t think Alex will give up these high level players for one great guy. But you never know.
A newborn? Holy diaper rash. I’m tired for you, sitting in my chair. God be with the two of you!

  • The Braves have signed left-handed pitcher Chris Nunn to a minor-league deal that includes an invite to spring training, according to Robert Murray. Nunn, originally a 2012 draftee of the Padres, has yet to see Major League action since his professional debut, making stops in Independent leagues along the way. Now 28 years old, he’s played in the upper minors with the Astros and Dodgers organizations in the last two years. Last year, in 50 2/3 innings between Double-A and Triple-A, Nunn struck out 66 batters while walking 24. After posting a 1.33 ERA in Double-A, his numbers ballooned at the next level, though he largely maintained his bat-missing prowess.

Nats. payroll is @$192.4 million by the reckoning of Roster-Resource (as now seen via fangraphs.com). The threshold above which teams begin paying penalties against their payroll is $208 million for the 2020 season... so they're within $18 million of that marker. Donaldson not included.

Ken Rosenthal (the man is everywhere) wrote in theAthletic last night ($$) that getting Cabrera will now allow the Nationals to stop thinking of using Carter Kieboom yet at third base as they would prefer him to refine his skills in AAA to start the year.

So after having spent $16.5 million on these recent players last week......
Nats. offer of over 100 m. is still on the table for Donaldson.

  • FRIDAY EVENING - Washington has an agreement with reliever David Hernandez; likely a minor league deal with a Spring invite attached.
