FNSM is not human!
Mike will back me up?

Edited-Hope you Gents. will join me over in the GT WBB thread, where we are up to 3 pages for the ACC GT Season? I’m getting as lonely as a prostitute in a Baptist Church, over there. Need some good content and dialogue.
Wow! exciting!!

I would add to what Grant says here... I think Donaldson is officially a long shot for Nationals now. Writing on wall. With Castro slotted for 2B, would probably mean Kendrick more at 1B now (w Zimmerman to spell him... it's assumed Zim is in plans & will sign).

3B possibilities... more $$ (not signing JD) for trade/deal for Bryant. Nationals could re-sign Asdrubal Cabrera who has played 3rd quite a bit.

Nationals may be betting Kieboom is the long term 3B plan... but he'll need to play it & prove it in minors before being thrust into MLB with such limited time at the position.

The Nationals have to be banking on Kieboom not going Kaboom;)

Recapping the saga....
-Braves in lead at the moment, 4 years/104 m.(26 million AAV).
-Nats. will be over luxury tax should they sign Donaldson, after a series of moves.
-Twins did piecemeal the rotation together w/ Rich Hill and Homer Bailey, to make room in their offer.

Any team can come along and offer 110 m., to get the paperwork started. That’s the hold up, according to Ken Rosenthal. Braves, Twins, Nats., Dodgers, Rangers, ?

Does any team want to exceed their limit already placed on him during the bidding?
Most clubs out there felt like a 34 yo 3B who was on the shelf in 2018, could not command 9 figures. The waiting game continues on. Who wants to go beyond their comfort zone?

@Buzzbomb how close are Braves to luxury tax? Is that a no-go for management? Traditionally... the Nationals have stayed below it. After WS, some speculated the windfall & desire to retain Rendon & Strasburg could mean they'd deal with luxury tax. I don't think that is true.
That's a no go for management. We have never been close to the luxury tax threshold.

I heard through the vine, with the players on the roster(without trading or releasing), Josh @26 m. would put Atlanta right at the luxury tax with a 165 m. payroll.
Now, does another couple million for 2020, put them over? I have no idea. And I say a few more because he wants 6 m. more over the 4 years than they offered, to sign him. Maybe nobody goes to 110 and he takes what is there? Maybe they trade a guy for a prospect? Alex has said he wants to add, and likes what he has on board the roster. I have no idea what Liberty Media has told him on the budget. Up until this current year, they obviously have always kept him under the threshold. Just what @THWG said.

More signs Nationals are out on JD... I also believe it means Braves get him.

My crystal ball pick wasn't enough for you, fred? o_O

A question for you gents, and BuzzB ;). Some dudes on MLBRadio were discussing the Lindor trade rumors. Said the Braves have one of the better packages, if they choose to get involved, even though they have Dansby..

Question I have is, Lindor is supposedly the best SS in the game so would it be worth the goodwill hit to trade for him and move on from Dansberry?

Your thoughts ....

I would think Dansby would have to be included in any deal for Lindor. Tribe would insist on him.
Realizing you would give up Riley as fast as you’d take the garbage out each night @kg01 , my question is are you ready to surrender 2 more of our top prospects?
Guessing they might want Ian Anderson and Kyle Mueller?

He’s more solid than Swanson, yes. Right up there with Baez, Story, Bogaerts, Turner and the elder statesman Simmons. Many consider him #1. DeLong of the Cards, is one I like for the future. Good value guy.

Fred, are you interested in Todd Frazier? You might get younger, ;)!

@FredJacket :You are correct again. Asdrubal is signed. 1 year, 2.5 m.
with 500 k. in incentives.

  • The Braves signed veteran infielder Pete Kozma. The longtime Cardinal has just a .215/.278/.291 career line (54 wRC+) in parts of seven MLB seasons. He hasn’t done much at the dish in the minors, either, but he’s a well-regarded defender around the infield.
