The latest from today on MLB TR, is much, much of what we thought or knew already:
The Braves could lose third baseman Josh Donaldson in free agency, but they’re not going down without a fight. They’ve made the longtime star a four-year offer, David O’Brien of The Athletictweets. They join the Twins and Nationals as teams known to have made recent four-year proposals for Donaldson. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com said Thursday that all three teams seem willing to go to the four-year, $100MM range. The Dodgers and the Rangers can’t be counted out of the race, either, per Feinsand.

My only issue is, if you knew the 3rd baseman market was so tight and you knew you weren't likely gonna pony up the elevated price to acquire an adequate replacement, why not just offer the 4th year off the bat (ooh, that nice baseball pun)?

Now they've basically 'papered the file' against themselves since they really only did it as a last-minute hail mary. I know how negative 'cruitin' works. The other teams're all, "Ya know the Braves didn't wanna give the 4th year until we did, right?"

I truly believe Atlanta played the game. Hope beyond logical hope he takes the 1 yr., automatic 17.8 m.(that wasn’t going to ever happen, but protects us with a draft pick). Offer a 2 year, because he will be 36 yo. and we don’t give 30+ guys more than a year. O.K., bidding has been upped to 3 years, 75 m.(we are at that point uncomfortable). Now, we played around waiting and the Moose gets a multi-year. Really stuck and here come the Nats. vs. Twins at 4 years. Alex has no choice, goes 4. It’s chaos, and watch out, Ozuna will be gone while the Braves are waiting. For the life of Riley.

Do you think the Riz would like a Marvel Comedic Character for the Bullpen?
I know of a Sliderman. He comes with a lifetime supply of Goodies Headache pills and/or Advil 250mg. unlimited. Also, I’ll throw in his matches. He’s a human gas can. Warning labels & stickers for Washington Fanatics in their seats, Flammable!
