The Braves would have to give him vesting option(s) to take it to 4 years. Otherwise he looks like a chump, taking 2 or 3 years. IMHO, only, I don’t think he’d take 2 years at 60 m.-unless player options are added on.

For the record, I want him here too! Rather than trade a bunch of MLB almost ready or ready players for a guy like Bryant. Ozuna may go elsewhere, like Grandal did.
I hope the Braves finally say eff it and pay him for 4 seasons;)

For a twist, name your 5 top Braves or Nats. prospects(still eligible for MLB rookie status):
1)Christian Pache
2)Ian Anderson
3)Bryse Wilson
4)Drew Waters(Southern League MVP)
5)Kyle Wright
HM)Phil Pfiefer(He will rise through the system, rapidly)

I am really curious why everyone has Pache definitely ahead of Waters. I have not seen either of them play, just followed their stats. Waters is younger. They essentially had the same year last year. Slugging was virtually even, waters hit 30 points higher in average but offset by 40 more strikeouts. Waters had better stats when in Rome (granted, Waters was 19 when he first got there and Pache was 18). Pache definitely has a little more power at this point. Does everyone just see his power more easily projectable based on his swing and body?

Good points @herb !
I think the Braves feel Pache can play to a higher MLB level defensively, right now. He’s projecting this year, Waters next year. It’s the scouts who see them on a regular basis. Alex can’t watch everything that’s why he has Perry and the SD. Christian has an arm and 5 tools, but nothing wrong with Drew and his 3 1/2. @YellowJacketFan2018 brought up Brett Butler(Waters reminds me of B.B.)yesterday, very admirably. Talk about a guy who got the most out of his frame, kind of like Lemke(you don’t have to be built like Acuna or Clemente to be good in this game). FWIW, I think both of them have careers at this level. There is not a whole lot of difference between my 1 and 5 selections. Atlanta has such a strong farm system, more difficult to leave others off the finite list.

Wanted to wish my Baseball Buddies, a Happy and safe New Year!

I posted this in the Swarm Lounge(although, I didn’t want you to miss it):
Peace to all of my Brothers and Sisters in GT Swarmland!
I hope that you and your families, have the best year ever.

Always remember when you feel despair(and we are human, fallible),
close your eyes for a minute and think of all the people who have loved you.
May that spirit walk with you each day throughout eternity.

Blessings and Love,
BuzzyB.

Hopefully AA has finally figured it out;):D
This is pure speculation on my part. Not fact and unqualified....
I have to believe during the talks near, around or after the Winter Meetings, Alex found out how expensive 3B could become in trade or signing some of these top flight FA’s? Probably didn’t think the Moose would be gone before Rendon(who he peaked in on)or Donaldson would get offers taking him through 37 years of age? He heard what the Cubs wanted, which would be 3 of his best 8 young up and comers? Arenado with a no trade clause, a fat contract and Colorado deems him a once in a franchise player(so the Rockies would want MLB current stars and half of the best of Atlanta farm talent?

I should have said peeked in on Rendon, not peaked.
I think the bidding went too high with other clubs involved.

That’s why I truly believe the AAV on Josh is going over 25 m.
Amazing what a .259 average will do with a lively ball.
Teams like Atlanta, Washington, need him as protection in the middle of their lineup.

This will end up with serious "regret" for at least 1 team. He's getting overpaid due to supply/demand (& 2 division rivals in the battle over him).

So... should he begin to "act his age" right away... regrets for team who signs him.

If he indeed repeats 2019 (or at least does consistently solidify the middle of his team's batting order), the teams that couldn't quite woo him will wish they'd made the fiscal stretch.

Not sure I can see any middle ground where everyone feels good about the deals done/not done.
