Cubs want to trim payroll. Unfortunately Kris Bryant in limbo with grievance filed.
Braves could allocate Donaldson money to Bumgarner, go in-house at 3B, find a power-hitting OF for the short term by not blocking Pache and Waters.

I agree, absolutely 100%. I’d rather acquire a RF, than another SP.
Ender Inciarte and the platoon in LF, are not enough compared to what teams like Washington, LA, have in the OF. Acuna is the bell cow, with hopes for the two rookies when they get their chance.

I think the Braves will probably win 90-91 games and will make the Playoffs as a Wildcard but the Nationals will win 92-93 games and win the NL East.

Nationals following their script. Get starting pitching... then a lineup... then a bullpen.... then a manager. That's the order of priorities.

If the Braves can sign Ozuna, Hechevarria to contracts(which wouldn’t break the bank in one-year deals), they would meet enough needs to compete for a playoff spot.
Obviously, that sets up a potential platoon at 3B with super-sub Camargo and Austin Riley.

Ozuna and agent might insist on a multi-year deal, as Morosi thinks he’s holding out for 5 years. I’m hoping he takes a deal like Donaldson got or less than the 23m.

2:23pm: The Braves have also “checked in” on the market for Rendon, Heyman tweets. But it does not sound as if their initial price indications were within range of what the Atlanta organization was willing to consider.

All teams listed are willing to go 7 years on Rendon: Rangers, Phillies, Dodgers and now Angels(fallback if Cole goes elsewhere).
